The new Byrds show is fantastic. I had a chance to catch this lineup in Boston a few months after this show and they were incredible. A couple of corrections: I don't hear Clarence playing any mandolin but I do hear McGuinn playing some very nice Scruggs-style banjo, with some nice tuning peg work at the end of his solo. The first Butterfield album is indeed a classic. You can apply to it the same adage used for the first Velvet Underground album: it didn't sell a whole lot of records, but everybody who bought one started a blues band.
