If you read Bill Graham's autobiography (a great book by the way) you know that Butterfield did a lot of shows for Graham. So let's hear some.

Call me crazy, but I prefer the first album to East West. I mean they're both great, but I just love the first one. Not only that, but it was the photos on the front and back cover that made me really want to be a musician. They were one of the coolest looking bands ever.

I was / am a huge fan of the Airplane. I think they were the best band to come out of San Francisco back in the day. My favorite albums are, in order, Crown of Creation, Volunteers, and Surrealistic Pillow. As for the Starship, I kind of enjoyed Blows Against the Empire, and there are some things on Octopus that I like, but that's about it.
