• Re: Black Sabbath with Ian Gillan?

It's the same deal with the bootlegs as with the studio LP...worth an occasional spin. Don't lose sleep over not hearing it. The Reading Festival boot mentioned above would probably be the best one to locate (I may have a copy somewhere). Good point about Gillan. I can see that.

  • Sabbath "Asbury Park 1975" Show

The power behind this show is astounding. It makes you realize what a (sorry to say this) museum act they became shortly after their late 90's reunion. A few of their shows early into the reunion were solid (I was at a handful myself and heard some others), but they still don't compare to this one. Also, unlike ...

  • Re: Mothers of Invention/Frank Zappa

Brother, that ain't love. The review you have up for your MOI show is pretty shallow: ''An appreciation for this performance depends entirely on oneโ€™s threshold for long and noodly instrumental explorations accented by *** jokes.'' That's not just a 2-dimensional simplification of the work of a genius, it's TOTAL POOP. ...

  • Re: Virgil Fox

I am ABSOLUTELY FLOORED that Virgil Fox is here. It's been about 15 years since I've heard his stuff. It's absolutely amazing and beautiful. I didn't even think to look for him, I just saw the forum listing for him and went to listen immediately. THANK YOU.

  • Re: Blue Oyster Cult KBFH March 1986

I AGREE- bring on BOC circa 1975. The audio quality of this '86 show is solid, but their material of this period is wretched (''r.u. ready to rock''...spare me). And honestly, I don't find their performances of this period particularly inspiring. Personally, I think they sound better NOW than they ...

  • Re: Black Sabbath with Ian Gillan?

I read somewhere on Joe Seigler's Black Sabbath site (I'm guessing you guys are familiar with it) that there was a ''good'' mix of the Born Again album, but then Geezer screwed it up and Gillan got really, really pissed and then split. I've also read that Gillan needed teleprompters at the live gigs because he never even ...
