• Re: Concert Vault Feedback

Is there a reason that the tab for ''Most Commented'' now searches the most total comments, instead of the most comments in the last 30 days? This basically insures that the same concerts remain on the list, and make it all but impossible to determine where new information about individual concerts has surfaced.

  • 1-23-88 Kaiser Auditorium Oakland request

If the current theme for Wednesday at Wolfgang's is All-Star Benefits, let me be the first to nominate the Blues For Salvador show at Henry J. Kaiser Auditorium in Oakland, on January 23, 1988. Although not widely remembered, it was a sold-out, smokin' San Francisco extravaganza and would make a great vault ...

  • Re: Dawson Tapes

As we work our way through the Dinky Dawson goldmine, is their any chance we will ever get to hear any live Steely Dan tapes? There is only one extant that I know of (KMET-fm broadcast, I believe its 3.20.74) and otherwise nada. Dinky was sound man for various tours by Fleetwood Mac, The Byrds, Lenox Inn (venue), The Kinks, Mahavishnu Orchestra and

  • Re: Concert Vault Feedback/Crabby Appleton

    >>some requests as i go thru my cd collection: crabby appleton-not listed anywhere in wv. did they play live? maybe michael fennelly-guitarist from crabby went solo after.<<Crabby Appleton--now there's an obscure one. As far as I know, they only played the Whisky A-Go-Go in Hollywood, around 1969. According to an interview with ...

  • Re: Concert Vault Feedback

    >>Looks like ''Indie Monday'' is a bust. I went through the last month and saw 2 comments in total. Does anybody listen to this stuff? Why devote a day to music that isn't getting listened to? This music doesn't belong in ''The Vault'' anyway. Mondays should go back to the music that comes from the Vault. The lost concerts of the past ...

  • Re: Concert Comments

Is there a search tool or window that would allow users to see when new comments have been added to individual concerts? It seems like the action has moved to the comments on each show--which is great--but its impossible to know when comments have been added to individual concerts. Given that there are a thousand plus concerts, with more to be ...

  • Re: Grateful Dead, 11/19/1966

Bill Kreutzmann had a cabaret card based on a fake ID that said ''Bill Sommers.'' The Dead could only play bars based on fake IDs for Kreutzmann and Bob Weir. There may have been a draft issue, too, but in any case Bill had to be identified as Bill Sommers at certain gigs. If you look at the back of the first Grateful Dead album, you will see that ...

  • Chuck Berry 12.29.67

The Chuck Berry show from 12.29.67 at Winterland is indeed a fine show, with excellent guitar playing from Mr. Berry. Just to be accurate, however, Steve Miller doesn't play with him: it appears to be just the organ, bass and drums from the Steve Miller Band (Jim Peterman, Lonnie Turner and Tim Davis). Indeed, after the encore, the announcer ...

  • Re: Concert Vault Feedback/Fleetwood Mac-Carousel

This is an excellent recording and a fine addition to known Fleetwood Mac material (at least to my knowledge). However, it is extremely unlikely that the date is June 8, 1968. According to the definitive source on this subject (author Christopher Hjort and his new book Strange Brew), Fleetwood Mac (although advertised on the June 6-7-8/68 Carousel ...

MrPaulCaruso: Johnny98:If by some chance you have the Springsteen 12/16/78 Winterland show, please add it in the near future. I have been waiting 28 years to hear this show again in the kind of quality that rocked Winterland back in the '78 when I was in the 14th row. Thanks for all the great stuff. J98Are you referring to 12/15/78? ...

  • Re: Led Zeppelin and Iron Butterfly at Fillmore East 1.31-2.1.69

    >>Also, I heard a story that an unknown band called Led Zeppelin opened for Iron Butterfly at the Fillmore East. After LZ blew everyone away, Iron Butterfly refused to go on! Can anyone confirm that?<<On their first US tour, LZ was second on the bill to Iron Butterfly at Fillmore East on 1.31 and 2.1.69. The first ...

  • Re: Concert Vault Feedback

A note on the fine Electric Flag sets from 5.18.68: Barry Goldberg had quit the band some months earlier, and Herbie Rich was the keyboard player. Rich, a friend of Buddy Miles (and like Miles, from Nebraska), had joined the band as a baritone sax player but took over on keyboards when Goldberg left at the end of 67 or beginning of 68. Corry

  • Re: Concert Vault Feedback

A brief comment to the notes on Chambers Brothers 5.29.68: the poster features Buffalo Springfield headlining, but in fact the group had broken up. The Springfield's last gig was 5.5.68 Long Beach (well, unless they reform and play another one). Graham apparently tried to get them to reform for the Fillmore, as they had ''broken up'' before, ...

  • Re: Vault Concert ? 11/6/66 Wrong Date?

    >>i just went to put the concert with the poster. according to the posters, the Airplane didn't play the weekend of 11/6/66. what's the deal? is the date correct?<<The BGP Fillmore bill for the weekend (11.4-5-6.66) was Muddy Waters/Quicksilver/Andrew Staples. However, the Sunday show (on the 6th) was an afternoon show. There was a ...
