• Re: Mahavishnu Orchestra

Ted McCallion:I have two questions. Do you have the Philmarmonic Hall show from 1/21/73 and will you be posting that anytime ? All the shows released so far have been from 1973. Will there be any shows upcoming from before that time being released ? Hi Ted, Always nice to hear from those enjoying the MO recordings. We have not ...

  • Re: Fleetwood Mac at The Warehouse, New Orleans

Yes, we are sure about the Feb 1, 1970 Mac set. This 3rd show was a benefit added at the last minute to defray legal costs for The Dead's bust the previous night (thus, its not on the poster for the run). The Flock couldn't play it as they had a booking that day, but Fleetwood Mac volunteered to stick around and play a third show on Feb 1st. ...

  • Re: Feat Founders

GTRZAN:Well,Lowell George was the only Mother member to help form Little Feat after being fired from the Mothers. Hi GTRZAN, Always good to hear from you but must correct you there. Lowell George AND Roy Estrada were both founding members of Little Feat and both ex- Mothers. Actually, Roy was in The Mothers a lot longer than Lowell was.

  • Re: Mahavishnu Orchestra

Thanks for the speedy reply Panagos. I did hear those blasts of white noise exactly where you said in the stream. I relayed this info to the techs and they are fixing the stream as we speak. The actual recording is fine and it was indeed a technical issue on our end. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. Check it again a little later today ...

  • Re: Sons of Champlin Show Gone

DeBoze:Well, MrBB, it's been over a year and we're still waiting for this show to return ''sounding better than ever''. What's the hangup? Doc Hi Doc, Good question. This was speed corrected some time ago, but then I lost track of it. Will check on it for you. Coincidentily, I'm working on another Sons Of Champlin show at the moment, which ...

PANAGOS:Thanks very much for the new Mahavishnu!!!!Thanks!!! Enjoy and spread the word. For anyone interested who hasn't checked our newest MO additions, both are particularly interesting. One is the first of the 2 two nights at Avery Fisher Hall in December of 73. We recently added the second night so this will complete all the recordings

Uncle Chick:Hey Vaulters, Finally got around to listening to the James Taylor May 26, 1974 Carnegie Hall show and it is a winner - now my favorite JT show you've posted. I wish I could give you a 100% helping hand on the ''Unknown - horn section,'' but I can get you 90% of the way there. ..They are Alan Rubin and Jon Faddis on trumpet, Barry ...

  • Re: Your Mike Bloomfield experience!

I was watching that Last Days Of The Fillmore movie a few nights ago and completely forgot Bloomfield was actually in that movie. Not performing, unfortunately, but during a Bill Graham monologue sequence, detailing a night that Bloomfield's mom was in the audience. It's a humoros story, with Mike looking highly embarrassed but kinda pleased with ...

  • Guess Who-related question for you hardcore fans

Rumor has it that a few hardcore Guess Who fans may be lurking about here. ;-)Well, so happens I could use your help. Does anyone here know who played in Burton Cummings touring bands post-Guess Who? This would be circa 1976/77 era on his earliest tours as a solo artist, following the release of his first self-titled solo ...

  • COMPLETE KBFH Mahavishnu Orchestra gig to be unveiled!

Its been exactly 35 years since KBFH show #0001 was aired this week in 1973. We'll be celebrating with the unveiling of the complete recordings of the artists featured on that very first program - which of course included Mahavishnu Orchestra, right after ''Birds Of Fire'' was released, no less! This is a staggering performance phenomenally ...

Riothamus:--including Jimi Hendrix. Mitch Mitchell was so good, though, holding things together. Allen Holdsworth was there with Soft Machine, but not yet playing that incredible stuff he started doing in the mid 80's. Hi Dave, Thoroughly enjoyed reading your message. Thanks for posting! One correction, ...

  • Also of possible interest....

In addition to Larry Coryell's 3/17/73 New Paltz set (mentioned a few posts back and coming soon), we just added Return To Forever's 9/2/73 Lenox set this week. It's the earlier lineup with Bill Connors on guitar. Personally, I find Connors far more engaging than Dimeola, so I'm biased toward this lineup, but I encourage you to have a listen. If ...

omark:An old pal of mine who was a long-time McLaughlin/Mahavishnu fan and collector was listening to the Yale University show, and said that the track that begins with Jan Hammer's solo...around 12:00 into the last track as presented here...was announced from the stage on more than one occasion as ''Muse Blues'' (gigs he attended in the ...

  • Re: Outtakes?

chuck:I recently downloaded the Linda Ronstadt 8-12-72 show (great show, btw). The last two songs in the download are labeled ''outtake''. I think of an outtake as a song that was recorded in the studio but didn't end up on the album. What does ''outtake'' mean in the context of a live show? Hi Chuck, Outtakes as it applies to live ...

  • Re: Concert Vault Feedback

Billiam:Another error to fix in a concert review. This is the Electric Flag's evening show and it's in ''Don't Lie to Me.'' The reviewer credits Barry Goldberg with the lead vocal. I am 98% sure that it's Bloomfield. Maybe someone else can chime in here, but I think it's Mike's on vocals and smokin' guitar. . Hi Billiam, Thank you for ...

Hi again, Just popping in to let you know another truly riveting MO show will be added in the next batch. It's the complete Felt Forum gig on Jerry Goodman's birthday. One of the greatest performances I've encountered so far in this exciting MO journey we're on. We've also added a few remarkable MO openers in the past few weeks. If ...

omark:In Dinky Dawson's article posted on the WV site elsewhere, he says, ''Earlier in the year we played all kinds of venues, from college gymnasiums to concert halls, and every performance had special moments. You can find some of these special moments on Wolfgangs Concert Vault. One concert in particular, Waterbury, Connecticut in May, 1973, ...
