    Winterland Regular

I was a Winterland regular in the seventies . I have kept a concert diary beginning with Led Zeppelin , Issac Hayes and Wolfgang at Winterland - November 8 ,1969 through the most recent show I attended - Tower of Power at  The Fillmore - January 20 , 2007 . One of my favorite shows was Paul Butterfields Better Days , Elvin Bishop Group and Michael Bloomfield & Mark Naftalin and Friends followed by a Butterfield Blues Band reunion jam session with many special guests at Winterland - February 24 ,1973 . If this show recorded , please add this show to the Vault . Thanx .

Like you...was at many of the Winterland shows from 1974 to 1978.  But was at more of the heavier rock concerts.  ;-)

    Re: Winterland Regular

    Is that you Dan?

Did you go to concerts with a jerk named Mark around the 73-74 timeline? LOL

    Just checking, you never know.

Anyway Winterland was the coolest place in the Bay Area back in the day and I had a great time with that Danny dude and pals from the San Jose area. It was almost too much fun!

    WINTERLAND ROCKED!

    Regards, Mark

    Re: Winterland Regular

    Say Mark,

Think you may have the wrong guy.  Initially started going to Winterland back in '74 with my best friend (at that time), Jimmy Lewis.  The first show we saw there was BTO.  Winterland was the most "magical venue" in the entire Bay Area.  Was real bummed when Bill closed it down, after the '78 New Years show.

    Regards,

    Daniel

    Re: Winterland Regular

I was in the right place but it must have been the wrong time.

We do share going to Winterland with good friends and that’s a good thing!

Hearing the hip and groovy sounds again makes me think about those nights and the friend’s we shared such good times with. I’m sure we were at some of the same shows, but you seem to have a much better recollection of the shows then I do.  I wonder why? LOL

Black-lights, smoke and solid walls of sound had me in higher ground I guess. I don’t know about you, but the first time I went to Winterland it was pure culture shock for this kid. But I got acclimated to it real fast and wanted more.

School, work and looking at those Kawasaki motorcycles in the showrooms were part and parcel of my days back then, but Mom didn’t want me on any motorcycle, so I spent all my money going to concerts.

We don’t have Winterland anymore and it took me 31 years to get that Kawasaki triple I wanted so long ago. But you know it’s strange after all this time I sort of have both now that I’ve found Wolfgang’s vault. Now if you know of a fountain of youth? I could have it all. LOL

My bad motor scooter and Wolfgang’s Vault, just missing that youth thing at this point.

BTW we need some Montrose don’t we?

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Thanks for the reply and much love fellow rock bro!

    Regards, Mark
