Hot Tuna - Winterland 4/30/72 sound quality

Wow! Typically raucous Hot Tuna! This is INCREDIBLE. However the sound quality is less than could be expected from the timeframe. Usually such a loss of high end is caused by dirty head on either the recorder or playback machine. If it's the recorder, then so be it, another master tape ruined. However, if it's the playback machine can you redo this? Otherwise maybe some post-processing to improve the high end...whadaya think?

I Agree with shredder,a little tlc of the master tape would make this show a 5 star for sure, but this is a gem of a show none the less. Jack and Jorma are in top form and having ole Sammy and Papa John cookin along with them   make a great performance.. a nice blend of what tuna was doing back than.. the burgers material was all fresh.. prettty cool to hear Jack and Jorma  in jam mode. uncle sams blues   I loved that version  heavy bass indeed... And Jorma is truly a survivor his playing today is still fresh and dynamic.. if you guys have some 75-76 shows in the vault  we would love to hear them.. from there so called heavy mettle period.. keep them comming thanks ...

Doubledose is one of the best live tuna albums i've ever heard.   There are....as i have recently discovered...many that i was somewhat unaware of.  Magic has some phenominal material on it however it is jorma solo.

I'll tell you though...Jorma is one of those types of guitarists that gets more interesting as he ages.  Some guitarists leave wholes where they would have filled in brighter days.  Not in Jorma's case....he fills better.

Check out the www.furpeaceranch.com and go to the line that is a link to WOUB public radio.  You can listen to Hot Tuna as of just about a week ago.......exciting...jack is top form as well.

There is also a good recording of Jorma and Barry Mitterhoff on www.jerryradio.com all the way at the bottom of the list.  Good stuff.

i refer mainly to an acoustic format......as any good listener knows....the primary dwelling of Jack and Jorma(i suppose jack cheats more often than not)  Actually.....the recording when Paul Kantner and Grace join in along with Papa John.....Jack is acoustic
