    OZZY OSBOURNE

Please add an Ozzy forum to discuss  the May 1981 show. The only other thing we've heard with Randy Rhoads is "Tribute" and WV pulls this out?!?! This is freaking big news!!! Holy crap!!! Amazing!!!

    Re: OZZY OSBOURNE

The recording you're getting here from the Vault is what was orginally aired in the US.

It has been heavily remixed (butchered) for the release of Tribute. The guitarsolo you hear on the vault recording is actually NOT on the Tribute album though.  (the Tribute solo was recorded in Montreal)

There is a pretty awesome lossless version of this recording available in the trading circles as well.

Unfortunaly there are very few soundboard recordings out there with Randy.  (Cleveland, Montreal, Kalamazoo) but there are some prectacular audio recordings out there too!!!

The above is incorrect.  The Vault show is the unreleased concert recorded by King Biscuit (remember, Bill Graham's archives and King Biscuit's archives merged).  It is absolutely not the premix of Ozzy's Tribute album.

The Vault show is an unbelieveable recording that a lot of people, myself included, prefer over the Tribute album recording, as there are even more great guitar fills on this show.  Randy really let loose.  To quote Quiet Riot's Kevin DuBrow, "My favorite playing of Randy's with Ozzy is on the live King Biscuit radio show".  One of Ozzy's former guitarists, Joe Holmes said "I got the King Biscuit Flower Hour tape from '81, and he played great on it.  I'm picking off a lot of fill-in riffs from that."

I've listened to this show over 300 times and never tire of it.  Hopefully this will be available on CD soon along with other Vault shows cause I'll be the first in line to buy it no matter the cost, as long as there's no compression, like mp3's or streams have.

The original KBFH promo and cue sheets for this show erroneously list Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake (along with misspelling Randy Rhoads' last name) when Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge played bass and drums respectively.  That is probably why the notes on this show are as such.

    Many thanks to Wolfgang's Vault!

    Re: OZZY OSBOURNE

This is ABSOLUTELY the best recording of Randy's that we have access too. Blows Tribute out of the water hands down!!! Randy must have really been eating his Wheaties this day as his always impressive guitar work is blistering on EVERY track especially on my favorite version of "I Don't Know". God Bless you Randy and thanks for so many years of inspiration................Ralph

My bad.  You're right.  This show as well however has been available in trading circles lossless in prestine quality as well.

So, then actually...  the solo from the show posted here IS on the tribute album...

(The majority of the Tribute album comes from the Cleveland show. with the exception of the solo, No Bone Movies and Goodbye to Romance)

    Re: OZZY OSBOURNE

There are some King Biscuit vinyl discs are out there.  However, all the many boot versions I've heard have been from a source taped off the radio.  A lossless version from the Vault would be direct from the masters and sound superior to anything out there and would not have any of the distortion, clicks and pops that even a clean King Biscuit vinyl record would bring.

Keeping my fingers crossed that this will be one of the first ones made available.  Randy Rhoads at his best!  R.I.P.
