    Jerry Garcia Band

I was looking for a Garcia thread and was amazed that until yesterday there hasn't even been a request for a Greatful Dead thread!

I guess I need to request a Garcia thread as I was amazed to find today while going through the Vault Radio playlist for today to see "Edward the Mad Shirtgrinder", one of my favorite Quicksilver Messenger Service tunes, showing up performed by the Jerry Garcia Band!  The one big question I have about this for the Concert Vault folks is - Why is Edward the Mad Shirtgrinder devided into partss 1 & 2???????  It's all one tune.  Sure it changes tempo in the middle, but...  opps...

    set righteous indignation = false

After listening to the concert rather than the Vault Radio tune #125, I'd better start over...

    Re: Jerry Garcia Band

It seems to me after listening to the last three tunes as listed for the Jerry Garcia Band concert of 12-20-75 that rather than dividing them into "Let's Spend the Night Together", "Edward the Mad Shirtgrinder Part 1" and 2, that "Let's spend the Night Together" lasts for about 5:10 before going into an extended jam that continues until about 6:39 of what's listed as "Edward the Mad Shirtgrinder Pt 1" and at that point EtMS starts and continues until the end of part 2.  I base this on listening for about 3 decades to the recorded version of EtMS by Quicksilver Messenger Service, recorded 7-14-69.  If "Edward the Mad Shirtgrinder" could be offered as one continuous piece (with or without the preceeding jam) I would be a very Greatful (still Alive) Quicksilver Messenger Service (and Nicky Hopkins) fan!  (I have to admit that my preference would be for the jam to be included as one long lead-in to and the beginning of EtMS, but hey, I'm not going to be that picky!)

    Re: Jerry Garcia Band

I was just listening to Edward the Mad Shirtgrinder again noticed a glitch in the recording.  At about 7:00 - 7:01 into EtMS part 1, there is about 5 seconds missing, based on comparing the tune the first time through (where the glitch is) to the second and third times the tune is played, immideately after the first.  I realize this is most likely a problem with the original taped recording, but is there any chance this occurred when the tune was transcribed to digital?
