Blue Oyster Cult KBFH March 1986

That BOC show is one of the finest recorded.  The quality is outstanding.  A great show and I'm not a big fan of Club Ninja era BOC either.  The last song, Wings of Mercury (Karl Wallinger?) is an absolute gem.  It's so rare that BOC play anything that's not an official release that it's always a treat to hear.  Now if you really want to treat the BOC listening public, get hold of a copy of the ultimate classic period BOC recording - Live In The West 1975.  This was a recording made by the bands crew and given to BOC after "On Your Feet or On Your Knees" was released.  You can hear how those songs really should be played!!

By the way, thanks for this service.  It is fantastic!!

We are actually moving all of the concert forums over and into the performer forums. Your wise naming of this thread will designate it as specific to that particular concert, for other BOC fans.

Thank you also for the kind words!

I have created a Blue Oyster Cult performer forum and moved this thread into that forum.

I AGREE- bring on BOC circa 1975.  The audio quality of this '86 show is solid, but their material of this period is wretched ("r.u. ready to rock"...spare me).  And honestly, I don't find their performances of this period particularly inspiring.  Personally, I think they sound better NOW than they did in '86.

And yes, this is just about the coolest f'ing online service ever.

I agree, Supernaut, this is about the coolest f'ing online service ever in a long time. I am both stunned AND amazed, simultaneously and at the same time.

Fellow BOC fans, I have many boots but I can never find one where they attempted to recreate the multi guitar harmony solo (for lack of a better descriptor) on Dominance - am I alone?"Buck Dharma's fingers were flying faster than shithouse mouse..." Creem Magazine 1979

Re: Blue Oyster Cult KBFH March 1986

Moving on from the KBFH 86 show, what does everyone think about the new Legacy Edition of Some Enchanted Evening with the bonus tracks & the bonus DVD? Obviously this is a really cool release for fans of the old Cult (and that would be me). I first saw them on that tour, so this will bring back some good memories. I am curious about one thing though....if you look at the track listing on the CD, "Reaper" & "Godzilla" are both on there (as they were on the original), but on the DVD, both are missing---why? I can't possibly imagine them recording that entire show on audio and video and then leaving their two biggest "hits" off of the DVD. Anyone have any ideas as to why they are missing? Outside of that, this is a smoking release. Now if they had video footage of  "On Your Feet..." that would be awesome!

I saw BOC last January at the Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis, MD, and they played "Beautiful As A Foot"! They were playing ALOT of the older and obscure BOC tunes. See them now while you can, because they are playing great, to small audiences and Rudy Sarzo is currently the bass player for them!
