    Disabling Email Subscription

    Anonymous:
Hi guys, I'm looking for someplace, any place, on this great web site where I can deselect 'Email me when someone replies.' Is it in a parallel universe? 'Cause I cannot find it ANYWHERE!! These repies are killing me!  Please!! Help!!

My initial reaction is that you might be getting these emails because you have clicked the "Enable Email Subscription" button at the top of your thread(s).

If you go to one of these threads, and you have email subscription enabled for that thread, the button will read "Disable Email Subscription". Please click that button once and it will change to "Enable Email Subscription" and you will be unsubscribed from that thread.

I have created a support forum and posted this message there. If we work through this problem there it might be easier, and help others that might have the same problem as well.

    Re: Disabling Email Subscription

The following is taken from the email reply of the Anonymous poster quoted above:

I have figured out the problem about an hour ago. The absence of the "Disable Email Subscription" was not due to inferior eyesight.  For some reason the button was not there. It looked sort of like, well, nothing I've ever seen. Just part of the page. So, with my stellar deductive and inductive reasoning skills I sat and thought what has changed on my hard drive recently?  Answer:  My Antivirus software along with some other "Anti software."  After temporarily disabling some features and restarting...VIOLA! There the button is!  Like so many other Windows quirks that defy logic and invite contempt I've learned to cope.

Thanks for this wonderful Web Site and you're prompt response.

This reporters opinion is that some portion of javascript was being disabled by the above mentioned software - perhaps active content on a page. As to how Anonymous was able to subscribe in the first place I am still confused, as users are not by default email-subscribed to their threads.

I hope this helps clear up other users problems!
