    Rory Gallagher

Thanks for the Bottom Line gig. The early show seems to be the better. Rory seems slightly off and even a bit rushed during the late show. Rory a bit off still kicks most players in the teeth. I always hated  the two show format and would buy tickets to both  shows when I had the chance. You always gambled on weather the musicians would treat the two shows as one or repeat the same set twice. The best payoff of this strategy was when I saw Muddy Waters play for over four hours at Bogarts in Cincinnati in the late 70's and only repeat MOJO and Long Distance Call.

Back to Rory... The 76 Shrine show is a crystal clear recording of what many consider Rory's best line up (although we also love the trios). Is there any more of this show and will it be posted? One of the lads mentions a record Plant recording from 75? I saw rory twice in 1982 Punchestown Racecource, Nass, Kildare, Eire and later that year at the Agora in Cleveland. He was a great performer who always gave it his all. A friendly iconoclastic Irishman unconcerned with the egotrips and trappings of the music biz and Rockstarism. His loss was a tragedy for music and was felt worldwide. He is still missed by those of us who loved him
