This issue comes up every year - this is the show (hell, any 1966 show with Beck/Page) that every Yardbirds, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Zep fans wants to hear - the Beck/Page lineup.

It would be great to hear a Yardbirds concert with both Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck on dual lead guitars. Both of them played together with the Yardbirds at the Filmore West on Oct 23, 1966. Would it be possible for you to put this show up if you have it.

I know this has been asked for before but since the last post is from quite a while back. Any chance we will be able to hear the "Wishbone"-type Yarbirds show, one fine day?

Since Bill a lot of Airplane shows record by soundboard in 1966, I imagine there is some slight chance he had dubbed them too. They were still pretty popular, at that time, so no wonder Big B. booked them into the Carousel, the largest available venue.

A very knowledgable Yarbirds collector just recently told me Page had mentioned somewhere he knew a guy who had that very show.

I know Page (and/or his lawyers) may be some pain in the butt when it comes to releasing/making available unearthed stuff that features him (see the "Live Yardbirds" album case, his insistence to pull the embryonic "Tangerine" from Cumular Limit and what not....). Well, despite common believe, he doesn't have the rights to Yarbirds material all to himself, it belomgs to the last four Yardbirds members and Keith Relf's estate.

Have you gone through your dungeons and have you found the show?

According to an industry insider, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck are going to tour as the Yardbirds this fall alongside founding bassist Chris Dreja and drummer Jim McCarty. The tour is said to kick off this October. It’s unclear who will be the reformed Yardbirds’ lead singer (original vocalist Keith Relf died of electrocution in 1976). Eric Clapton, the Yardbirds’ founding guitarist, has no plans to participate, according to the source.

Page and Beck’s tenure in the Yardbirds overlapped by only a few months in 1966, but they have remained close friends since. The British blues legends disbanded in July of 1968, although Dreja and McCarty have been touring steadily under the Yardbirds name since the 1990s, and are currently on the road through August. The band reunited for one night in 1992 when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Why is what I posted classified as "negativity?" Some self-absorbed nimrod posts a bunch of information already known to Yardbirds' fans and expects...what? He's not impressing anyone, he's just annoying.

And then there are the "I don't care what lineup it is..." morons. Well, people, there are already PLENTY of Yardbirds' live recordings from every era EXCEPT the relatively short-lived Beck/Page on lead guitars lineup. We don't want "more of the same" - there's already plenty of that on offer here at Wolfgang's Vault (it should be called "Bootlegs You've Already Heard a Million Times Before with No Discernable Improvement in Sound Quality Vault."

Give us something new! Give us something we've NEVER heard before. Come on, stop being so lazy with the same old, same old.

Just ringing in to bring life to the thread.

I still keep checking in hoping to find a Yardbirds concert added to the lineup.

Of course, my pick would be the '66, Oct. 23rd concert but beggers cant be choosers.

I will take any scrap that drops from Wolfgangs table.

A Yardbirds concert with Beck and Page certainly would be a milestone. Meanwhile, some Beck- or Page-era Yardbirds would be most welcome.

Any or all of the three stops they made would be nice.

The one with Beck/Page together would be a real treat.

Yeah, it looks like they played there at least three times. Presumably first with the Beck lineup, and then the Beck/Page lineup, and then the Page lineup. The band was reduced to a 4-piece after Beck left and was less dynamic than the 5-live Yardbirds.

Personally I prefer the Yardbirds with Beck in the band, whether Page is there or not, but my preference for releasing the tapes (if there are any) would be in this order:

1) Beck/Page lineup
2) Beck lineup
3) Page lineup

But of course, by all means, release any and all.

Wow such negativity. Though you did succeed in bumping the Yardbirds thread :)

Aren't we all here to hear some good new/old music (hopefully they will put something that isn't already circulating out soon).

My impression of the post about the Page/Beck recordings is that it was directed at Wolfgang's Vault people to highlight just how rare a recording of the two of them would be, rather than to hard-core fans.

Cause we know that if such a concert was posted then there would be Yardbirds fans, Jeff Beck fans and Led Zeppelin fans all coming to this site to listen to it. It would certainly generate a lot of interest.

We all know this information already. Why post it here? No one is interested in studio recordings. We want a live recording of the Beck/Page dual lead guitar lineup. Stop trying to impress everyone and post something useful.

Some great concerts have been posted to the Concert Vault but we're still hoping for a Yardbirds concert. There are only three recorded songs of the Yardbirds which document the Page/Beck lineup. Happenings Ten Years Time Ago and Psycho Daisies were recorded in September 1966. Stroll On from Michelangelo Antonioni's famous movie Blow Up was in early October 1966. The Yardbirds then embarked on a US tour and played the Fillmore on October 23, 1966. Alan Clayson indicates in his book "The Yardbirds" that it was a great show.

The Yardbirds would be great regardless of the line up. A live recording of the Beck/Page line up would be superb but I could make do with either one of them.

Couldn't agree more. Putting up a recording that NO ONE has ever heard before like a Yardbirds concert featuring both Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck on lead guitars would be truly monumental.
