So, the bottom line is, the 12/3 tape isn't from Boston because it has an encore. There it is.

If these shows were available for download, I'd be all over them. I think this is my favorite period of the Who and enjoy listening to them on The Vault.

Re: Philadelphia 1973: Who's Right?

So are the Who (who are a Universal group), part of this new deal you have with Universal Media? I know they're part of Universal. Is this show going to be released soon?

As a teen, Quadrophenia means a lot to me. Not only that, but it was incredibly rare to catch the Who on a good night during this rough and rocky tour. This was one of the high moments and it has a huge historical significance in rock history. The Who were at their best when all of the tapes from Quadrophenia worked on this tour.

Philadelphia was one of those nights. Thank God for the KBFH, not just for capturing this performance but other important artists as well.

So is this going to come out on hard disk or download? Or both? Either way some release would be fantastic. In stereo I hope hahaha

Thank you for your efforts vault team. It really means a lot

Re: Philadelphia 1973: Who's Right?

Any update on this being available for download? Can't The Who management and Wolfgang's Vault come to some sort of deal?

Re: Philadelphia 1973: Who's Right?

I agree totally with this , A new way for older artists to engage their listeners and new listeners

We should do this for other shows as well. I know their are legal issues but I think the vault and the artist should work with us (the fans) to sort out a release.

I mean their is a huge market for this material. Look these bands have released most or all of their studio material.

Live downloads and concerts are the new way for old artists to engage their listeners.

Re: Philadelphia 1973: Who's Right?

does anyone know of any plans to make this show available for download or who we can petition to get them to make it available?

Re: Philadelphia 1973: Who's Right?

Interesting stuff here!!! While my copy has long since gone to vinyl heaven, I was not surprised that I remembered all the song introductions by heart as I listened to the 12-4 Philadelphia show. After listening to the 12-6 Largo show, I can say with 99% certainty that the King Biscuit broadcast is ENTIRELY from the Philadelphia show, and the Largo show, while recorded, went completely unused (for fairly obvious reasons - the crowd control issues seemed to have really got the guys off their game, Largo pales in comparison to Philly). The "Tommy" encores that have been attributed by some souces as being from Largo are obviously not, as "Pinball Wizard" is a complete mess at Largo and Roger's "Let them hear you in New York" comment during See Me Feel Me/Listening to You, as heard in the broadcast, comes from the Philly show. Other than the tape boxes being misdated for no clear reason ... mystery solved.
Re: Philadelphia 1973: Who's Right?

corkface:

I'm 1000% positive Philadelphia was on December 4, 1973. The Who played in Montreal on Dec. 2nd, and just made the Boston Garden show on Dec. 3rd. I still have my ticket stub from that night, memories of an angry Townshend and photos taken during the concert. I lived very close to Logan Airport at the time, and walked over there to see if I could track them down before leaving Boston. I was able to snap some shots of them (individually) at Logan before they boarded their flight to Philadelphia. I'm still kicking myself that I never thought to get autographs, I was so focused on getting photos ...
