The WV posted concert summary has a major mistake and a slight omission.

The Who did record and release two songs by The Rolling Stones in 1967. Unfortunately, neither was "Fortune Teller." The 45 featured "The Last Time" b/w "Under My Thumb."

Also, while "Relax" is noted as incomplete, no mention is made of the fact that "A Quick One While He's Away" is also incomplete. The first part of the song is missing and begins with the Ivar the Engine Driver section.

As far as the show is concerned, this often booted concert is THE FINEST pre-Tommy show by The Who. The group's power didn't kick into full gear until 1971, when they were at their touring peak. If you were fortunate enough to see them in 1971-72, you saw and heard the greatest band to ever take the stage.

Does anyone remember the outstanding show the Who did at the Met in 1970?
The first and last rock band to ever play the met!
I don't know how Bill convinced those high society snobs to allow it...but then, it only seemed natural that a "rock opera" should be performed in an opera house!
The Met's biggest mistake was not to let Bill use his own security.They had no clue what they were in for.
Saying: "We Destroyed The Place" is an understatement.
And, when The Who finished with their signature "My Generation" with Keith totally wrecking his drum set and Pete practically putting a hole in the stage, striking it again and again with his guitar.. you can just imagine the absolute chaos and euphoria that ensued.

It has to be one of Rock Histories most entertaining and bizarre shows ever!

Philadelphia 1973: Who's Right?

We are very excited to post two exceptional shows by The Who to the Concert Vault this week. We'd like fans of The Who to read this post completely - we have a puzzle that we need your help to solve.

As many of you already know, we've had a show up on the Vault for a while now from The Who identified as the Philadelphia 12/4/73 show. A few Vault regulars have stated in a separate forum thread that at least some tracks from this show are actually from The Who's 12/6/73 show at the Capital Center in Largo, MD, and they are correct. What has been on the Vault was an amalgam that was created for a single King Biscuit Flower Hour radio broadcast.

We recently uncovered the original master tapes for both of these shows. We are missing a single track from the Philadelphia show, and the Capital Center show is complete. Both are high quality recordings of the band's original Quadrophenia tour.

Now to the puzzle. It is well documented that The Who played in Boston on 12/3, Philadelphia on 12/4, and Largo, MD on 12/5. It is also well documented that the latter two shows were recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour. In fact you can hear the band mention "Philadelphia" several times during the 12/4 show on the Concert Vault.

Imagine our surprise, when we found the reels for the Philadelphia show, that they are all marked 12/3, not 12/4. They are marked consistently this way, and the studio engineer comments that are captured on tape also reference 12/3. We have included a few images of the tape boxes below.

Have these tapes been mis-dated in our collective understanding for years?

Or did the original engineers just get this wrong when they labeled the tapes?

We at the Vault are split on this. Our engineers believe that engineers would have never made a mistake like this :-) Others among us are certain that this is the Philadelphia show, and equally certain that the Philadelphia show took place on 12/4

We would love to hear from you. Images of ticket stubs, other physical proof, anything that supports one of these conclusions is welcome. Let the debate begin.

I would also love to hear some of the 1974 Madison Square Gdns shows. What about the whole of Tanglewood 1970 released officially, a lot of it is on You Tube and I prefer it to The Isle of Wight.

In the late 1990s a local radio station had a show called "Saturday Night Live" which consisted of live recordings of particular bands, which I often taped to cassettes.

One of the featured bands was The Who. I absolutely loved this recording because it had a sequence from Tommy consisting of:

See Me, Feel Me
Listening to You

This sequence, to me, is the absolute epitome of live Rock-n-Roll.

I listened to this recording hundreds of times and consequently wore-out the cassette before I could transfer to it digital form.

I'm looking for what particular concert this sequence was performed in.

I know its not the Woodstock or Live at Leeds recordings.

I presume its from an obscure import of an obscure concert.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
