And your post here DRaftervoi has reminded me (again) just how many radio stations there must (have) been out in the US (and worldwide!), and how many have broadcast live shows by bands I love.
I'd mentioned how there are Iggy shows which have been broadcast on radio on the buyable downloads section. I have no need for these as I have the official CD's - even the harder to find 2CD from France of the New York '86 gig, with the extra track...it's a shame that the buyable downloads don't feature the rare tracks from these gigs which didn't make the cut on all CD's - like TV Eye from New York for instance, and the encores from the 1977 gig, which have pretty much never been heard apart from about one in fan circles so to speak.
Anyway, it got me thinking how Iggy did gigs here there and everywhere which got on radio - there's about 6 from the 1979-1981 period alone, and they either have not emerged officially, or not from the original tapes (a great 1979 gig has been released but in mono, stereo tapes must exist).
Then there's people like Talking Heads, The Fall, Robert Palmer (as previously mentioned) who recorded live shows year in year out.
I don't keep notes on what stations these shows were broadcast on but I'm sure KSAN broadcast shows by at least one of the above, if not maybe Blondie?
As for gigs at Park West in Chicago there's a classic gig from Lou Reed recorded there in 1978 that screams to be heard. Everyone goes on about 'Live Take No Prisoners' but there were three live radio broadcasts of Lou in 1978 which I much prefer to that album!
I hope and pray Wolfgang can help get some (more) of the live show by the above artists online!
