    Re: Concert Vault Feedback

Regarding the Little Feat concert at Winterland 2/14/76, it should be noted that the audience that night was in a very bad mood by the time the Feat took the stage. As one who was there that night, I can tell you it rained for about an hour prior to the doors finally opening. This is in the day of waiting an entire day to get in, injesting whatever was available in line and partying non-stop on the sidewalk outside Winterland.

The opening act was a an a capella soul group called StreeT Corner Symphony that didn't go down well with the audience. This group was sent out for a couple of encores, leading to things being tossed at the stage and a near-riot breaking out, especially when someone working for Bill Graham said they were disappointed in the audience, after all, this was the type of music he had listened to "growing up in Los Angeles." Absolutely the wrong words to use with a wet, stoned and upset San Francisco audience. A chant of "go back to LA" went up as the audience got more upset.

If you listen to the very beginning of the Feat concert, you hear them announced as "a good band from LA, probably the best one to ever play here," playing with fire.  Within a few measures of  "Apolitical  Blues," order was restored  with the entire audience up on it's Feet dancing to the Feat.
