Police at Berkeley

    Police at Berkeley

I was the National College Director for A&M in the late 70's and worked the first Police record and shows.

I was with them at the Zellerbach show. They were rehearsing "Message" during  sound check that afternoon. Andy was trying to get the fingering right. Next morning we did an in-store at Rather Ripped Records, I have the photos. We drove up to UC Davis and they played the UC Davis Coffeehouse that night. I have the tape. They put it out on the air of the campus station and the station's phone lines were flooded that night. The band trashed my hotel room that night. We were taking Sting to the hospital almost everyday for his throat those days. Roxanne was a killer on his throat every night.

Saw them last week at Staples in LA. Great memories.  Bob

PS I met Stewart in 1973. He was working his way from London to Berkeley to go to school, as Joan Armatrading's road manager on her first tour. She and Stewart; he carried the guitars. They spent two weeks in Denver where I was the college Rep for A&M.
