The Vaulsters have finally put up a Paul Butterfield Blues Band show from 1966. These tapes reveal what guitar players know and what many blues and rock fans know -- that Mike Bloomfield was incredible. Of course, Butterfield was a king too with his powerful harp playing and stylistic vocals. This is THE band that inspired a ton of young guys to put together a blues or rock band. People like Neal Schon and Robben Ford say it was the Butterfield Band that inspired them to play. And "East-West" is clearly the most groundbreaking composition of it's day. IMO, it took something like "Voodoo Child" to surpass Bloomfield's genius of turning music upside down as we knew it.
I think that one song is mis-labeled in the setlist. "Never Say No" sung by the venerable Elvin Bishop is called "Harry's Blues" for some reason. This tune is off the album "East-West."
