Hey, I COMPLETELY AGREE- and thanks for noticing- my taste in music IS "impecable"! But enough about your "opinion" of my great taste- I wasn't writing about "opinion". What I took the time to write about, are what's called "FACTS"- you know- the REALITY of a situation -not just your "perception" of it.
I, too, wish you- and anyone else who wanted to- could find a list of Silver Eagle shows. But more than anything, I wish you- and anyone else who wanted to- could find a whole other site and go THERE and pine away for all the C&W they could post for your tired amusement. And Dutch Opera and French Chamber music and "Boy Bands" of the 90's and Benedictian Monk Chants and Techno Rave and Big Bands of the 30s and 40s and Christian Death Metal and Chinese Yodeling and Hungarian Polka music and EVERY OTHER KIND OF "MUSIC" THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH "WOLFGANGS VAULT"! And then, maybe some of us who have been following this little game for more than 2 days can finally get to hear what we have been waiting around for the past year to hear and which this site promoted itself all over the media with. Which is; The original- unedited- "soundboard" tapes of supossedly "100s" of Bill Graham shows from the 60s and 70s! That's all. THAT'S what the "fact of the matter" is.That's what all their promotion has been about. That's what their promise was. That's the imaging they use for all their "hype"- and have been for over 4 years now. And that's what I - and MOST of the participents of this(see the great F-A-C-T filled post above) signed on for. Bill Graham did a great job of "mixing it up"- every now and then- but he did it with QUALITY and CLASS- not the drivel we're seeing lately. "Bitching"? Not at all. A statement of fact. Do you go into an Italian resturant to get Sushi? A "Dennys" for good Thai food? Why not? It's ALL just food - right? No? There's a "difference", you say? You go to diiferent "places" for different "things"? Like you don't go to Macy's for building supplies? Ohhhhhhhh- I "get it", now! So, just like - if I had a brain- I wouldn't head over to the Merle Haggard site to download some cool "Jazz Fusion" or "Trip/Hop", so, too it would probably be reasonable to expect NOT to have C&W and MTV rejects takin' up space on a site dedicated to Bill Grahams "vaults"- y'think? Not that there is anything wrong with that kind of music- I personally love all KINDS of music- it's just that THIS is not the "venue" for it!!
When I read posts by people like yourself "slobbering" all over about how we should feel so "priviledged" to recieve ANYTHING and should just shut up and ACCEPT anything that is tossed our way and begging "Please, please Sir- might we have a little more, Sir?", it just cracks me up!! You really don't "get it", do you? This isn't some "benevolent collector" who has kindly and graciously decided to "share" his hard-won gems with us after years of collecting- it's MARKET RESEARCH and NOTHING MORE!! And "WE" are providing it all to them. They're just trying to figure out how to "sell" it to us without gettin' sued into the next century. Believe me, it would be ALOT cheaper to sell us a bunch of washed-up C&W and 80s and 90s bands that nobody cares about anymore than it would be to get all the clearences and go through all the legal hassles to get the groups we really want.
They didn't bring in Silver Eagle and KBFH out of any "love" for the music or to "broaden" YOUR horizons- they brought 'em in to get PAID!! And THAT wouldn't be any big shakes EXCEPT- it dilutes what's there and impedes the progress of getting to what we REALLY want. Oh, and what do we REALLY want? Just look at the numbers above.......
