It's great to hear Heart do their thing. Mike the drummer was a total powerhouse, yet to this day, he's failed to even register as one of the great rock drummers. Wow. And Ann Wilson's vocal rendition of Zep's Rock and Roll really picks up where Plant's burnt vocal chords left off in the mid '70s. Apparently, she and the band used to do a medley of Zep tunes, way back when they played the Pacific northwest in the early '70s.
A friend of my brother's saw them in Vancouver back then, and raved about how they were world-class, years before they made it with Dreamboat Annie. Boy, did they ever write some memorable tunes, or what? Here's a anecdote: I sat immediately in front of Ann and Nancy at the 1975 Juno Awards (Canada's Grammys), and had a crush on Nancy for years afterword. They were a great, powerful guitar/dbl vox duo, and were ably driven forward by their always-crack band. But Mike the drummer still deserves the accolades he's so far missed. Mike ROCKS!
