All I know is that I reviewed Born Again for my high school newspaper and I basically said it sucked. I made fun of the song "Thrashed" and called these guys over-the-hill geezers wanting to reclaim their past glory with a has-been singer who couldn't remember any of Black Sabbath's song lyrics whenver he played live with them. The paper came out on a Friday and that night I went to a party. Some guy in a black leather jacket came over and asked me if I was the guy who wrote that record review ripping into the band. I told him it was me and he hit me... Well, I was shocked because I couldn't believe that someone would get that mad over a record review- I thought the pen was mightier than the sword- I was listening to The Doors, The Clash, Bowie, XTC, Buzzcocks, etc.. and thought the New Wave of British Heavy Metal was for silly people. Well, I finally listened to this album a few weeks ago and it isn't that bad. Tony's guitar tone is nice and Ian doesn't sound like an over-the-hill geezer. There are some memorable riffs that were even ripped off by Guns n Roses a few years later (i.e. Zero). Anyway, I still don't think that I should have gotten hit over the record review, but the older I get, I realize that this isn't that bad of an album and that Black Sabbath will alway have fans no matter what incarnation the band takes... Of course, if I were to review Black Sabbath's 1986 album Seventh Star.....................................................................
