>>i just went to put the concert with the poster. according to the
posters, the Airplane didn't play the weekend of 11/6/66. what's the
deal? is the date correct?<<
The BGP Fillmore bill for the weekend (11.4-5-6.66) was Muddy Waters/Quicksilver/Andrew Staples. However, the Sunday show (on the 6th) was an afternoon show. There was a different show for the evening of the 6th, as it was part of the San Francisco State College Homecoming Festivities. There is a different poster, and it says "Edwardian Ball", featuring Jefferson Airplane and the little-known Daemon Lover. In 1966, it was common to conclude the weekend bill on Sunday afternoon, and to have a different show (often a benefit) on Sunday evening.
Note that San Francisco State still had a football team. The homecoming queen in 1965 was none other than the great Jane Dornacker, who ran and won on a sort of "anti school spirit" platform. For the record, Daemon Lover featured the former bassist of The Great Society (Bard Dupont) and the future bassist of Ace of Cups (Mary Gannon, playing guitar), but they were apparently more fashionable than good.
