    Hello Radio...

    Hello Radio Land,
I see a lot of folks are asking for more Allman Brothers. One place where you might have Duane Allman on tape is at the Derek and the Dominoes show, Berkeley Community Theater, late 70’s. Clapton had him on as a guest artist for the second half of the show the night I was there. Awesome blues between the two of them, great music, however it wasn’t the Cream. The crowd still wanted it to be a Cream show. Clapton had been back to the Bay Area twice since Cream broke up, once with Blind Faith and once with Delaney and Bonnie, but people still wanted to hear him play high energy, psychedelic blues rock. But it seems by then he had moved on.
On last week’s playlist it was good to hear Zappa joking about San Francisco being the psychedelic capitol of the world. It reminded me of hearing him on stage going on and on about what a thrill and a privilege and an honor it was to play for an audience as sophisticated as San Franciscans. He was teasing “hippies” before the media manufactured the term.
Looking forward to Tuesday and the new playlist.
    Thanks again.
