    this is so...

this is so fantastic!!!!....i was actually at alot of these san francisco concerts and the tapes bring back so many many memories...lp's and cd's are so polished and prettied up that they don't really reflect what it was like to actually be there....

things i remember from the concerts....at the top of the stairs at the original filmore there was always a big tub of apples...free for the taking....and as you left the concert you could pick up a copy of the poster for the next week's concert (oh how i wish i still had all of them!!)....bill graham would often greet people at the top of the stairs...or walk the line outside...greeting people and chatting with them....

and what really blows me away is that concert tickets were only $3.00!!!....we used to go the filmore (or the carousel ballroom before the filmore opened) and the avalon every weekend...one show friday night, the other on saturday night...and then on sunday afternoon we'd go back to see the show we liked the best....

jefferson airplane before grace slick....the doors...the charlatans...the dead....paul butterfield....donovan....joan baez....the blend of oldies rock and roll groups, folk singers, blues and the newest craziest psychedelic music .....with the occasional classical music thrown in just when you least expected it....the sing-a-longs between sets....and how many different groups did i hear play 'midnight hour' at midnight???....great times!!
