Story about Bill Graham: Friend of mine worked in the emergency room at Mt. Zion Hospital (2 blocks from Winterland). BEFORE every Winterland concert, Bill would visit the emergency room and hand out free tickets. DURING the show, he would shuttle the kids that OD'd over to the hospital. AFTER EVERY show, Bill went to the emergency room and made sure every kid was OK, and made sure they all got home safely. Need I say more...
