Rachel: No need to apologize. Us "older folk" who were living it appreciate YOUR interest and acknowledgement about the signficance of this period of music. Your listening to this, would be as if I had the ability to hear the live concerts my mother attended in NYC at the Savoy Ballroom and other smaller venues in the late 1930's and 1940's. She saw history being made with Count Basie, Duke E, Coleman Hawkins, and Billie Holiday. I would love to hear those as they were performed, knowing there was a live audience, witnessing a musical transformation.
