    Re: Hendrix Winterland 68

Finally looking at this forum again, after a long hiatus.  Thanks for your additions about the Thursday night show at the Fillmore.  As you can read from my first long post, Albert King nearly stole the show from Hendrix on Saturday night also.  Listening to King today, that is kind of hard to understand. Albert did not jump around the stage, kind of sounded alike on most of his songs, and did not strike any poses.  But, damn, he was a great showman.   But, almost all the black blues guys did this at the Fillmore and Winterland.  Groups like Quicksilver, Allman Bro's, and lots of others (Mayall was replicating their work), idolized the black blues guys.  It was Butterfield and Bloomfield who starting merging the two races and did so with a super high level of muscianship.

I was at the next Hendrix gig in October, and I thought the February Winterland show was superior.  Way better co-acts (Mayall, King versus Miles and Valenti).  Hendrix jammed way more later in the year, which could be very interesting or could lose me.
