Re: Rolling Thunder Minus Dylan - No Good

First of all--i just recently began visiting this site after having several people recommend it to me. It is fantastic, and I don't know how I'll find the time to listen to all the concerts I would like to hear. My question is the same as ragkrc 's below. He and a number of other people on this long thread have asked why Dylan's performances are not included in the Rolling Thunder show, but I have not seen a response from the site managers. One poster said that Dylan won't give permission for WV to post his performances. That seems to be the likely explanation. So shouldn't the concert descriptions say this? It is disconcerting to read the descriptions of Dylan's performance in these great concerts, and then realize as you listen that they have been deleted from the file (not that the other performances aren't great). You can hear Dylan on The Bootleg Series 5 CD, but there the other performances are excluded. I really want to hear a complete RTR concert for a change. So lets all write to Dylan's manager Jeff Rosen and ask him to tell Bob to stop being a *** and let WV include his stuff in the RTR files. It would be a nice way for him to make up for shilling for Cadillac in TV ads. In the meantime, shouldn't the concert description reflect what is actually available to listeners?

P.S. RIP Mr. Bill Graham. What a great legacy you left us!

Everything I hear on this site is great! It seems almost every great almost has a stand out feature on this site, well almost... I logged on this afternoon at work and almost jumped out of my seat when I saw a newly added post for THE ROLLING THUNDER REVUE, but when I scrolled down the song list and started reading, I realized something did not seem correct. Rolling Thunder Revue without Dylan??? whats the point!  Now don't get me wrong all the other artist are great, BUT they are NOT DYLAN and therefore it really is not what the Rolling Thunder Revue should be.  Rolling thunder is one of the greatest dylan sets i've ever heard and all this does is give you a hodge podge of performers from other bands pulling off covers that don't quite have the calibur of the originals along for Dylan's Rolling Thunder ride. I've been listening to it as I write this and all it does is make you miss Dylans songs. Why would you put a Rolling Thunder show on without Dylan? It's just not really quite worth it, especially if you've heard Dylan on the Rolling Thunder, then you know how good this show really could be and what it lacks without his presence.  If you want to hear the REAL Rolling Thunder Revue, then I would recommend going out purchasing the 2 disc BOB DYLAN, Bootleg series 5, live in 1975, THE ROLLING THUNDER REVUE.  That said, this show is not horrible, just a HUGE dissapoitment to any Dylan fan.  Would you watch a BATMAN movie without BATMAN in it?  (obscure refrence I know, but think about it)
