The Chuck Berry show from 12.29.67 at Winterland is indeed a fine show, with excellent guitar playing from Mr. Berry. Just to be accurate, however, Steve Miller doesn't play with him: it appears to be just the organ, bass and drums from the Steve Miller Band (Jim Peterman, Lonnie Turner and Tim Davis). Indeed, after the encore, the announcer says "Chuck Berry, backed by The Steve Miller-less Blues Band."
This absence doesn't change the fact that its still a great listen. I wonder if the same trio had been backing Berry earlier in the week, when Chuck opened for The Doors? That would explain how comfortably they played with him, since Berry was notorious for never rehearsing.
