    Re: Downloads are Here

A fantastic Elvin Bishop concert download; many thanks! Like many others I look forward to seeing more of my personal favorites. In the meantime, it would be nice to see a post informing us, in a general way (no names needed!), about the issues and problems you face in presenting more downloads. Some are probably obvious, but others perhaps not.

    Re: Downloads are Here

You state that "lossless music will be offered sometime in the future" and later that the streaming concerts is "at a substantial cost to us. We hope you will purchase music to help with this cost". We will purchase many of the concerts that you'll offer in lossless format. I'm not sure how much clearer it can be that as soon as lossless files are available, people will buy them. Thanks for the info, but a more specific date or time will be helpful.

    Re: Downloads are Here

"10 new concerts each week – we will be doubling the number of new concerts from 5 to 10 that we post each week on Concert Vault;"

Okay- so where's the 10 new concerts?

    Re: Downloads are Here

I would only pay $10 for lossless downloads anyway, but at least I didn't have to be tempted by mp3s of great shows. Nothing interesting up there yet. Why are there so many great bands on the streaming audio but so few on the downloads?

    Re: Downloads are Here

*Once again - where/when are the big guns going to be available for download, i.e. no Hendrix, no Allman Brothers, no Zeppelin, no Bob Marley, no Crosby, Stills, Nash, etc. available for download. The vault has multiple shows for each of these artists, and I would love to download some their shows. Please make these artists available for download sooner rather than later.

    Thanks, Vince

    Re: Downloads are Here

    Hi Wolfgang,

I just discovered your site and I LOVE it. I downloaded 2 concerts right away, cause I can't wait for the lossless versions. The only problem is that I would like to get the lossless versions when available, but I don't feel like paying again. I would like to make a suggestion, and hope you will take this into consideration.

It would be great if you could make the lossless versions available for those of us that already downloaded the mp3 versions FOR FREE.

It would be really great service to us customers, and it certainly would quiet down all those impatient people now feeling they are waiting forever.

    How about it?

    Gerard

    Re: Downloads are Here

Just wanted to add my voice to the call for FLAC lossless downloads. I like to hear all of the sonic nuances that a recording has to offer. Mp3s are a musically inferior product. I don't understand why you didn't start with FLAC. I can encode an album as a lossless FLAC file in the same amount of time as I can encode an mp3. And FLAC is royalty-free open-source, hence the name (Free Lossless Audio Codec). Why did you choose to start with compromised audio? Will you offer free or low priced upgrades to FLAC for those who purchase the lower quaility audio?

    Re: Downloads are Here

Will the (FLAC) lossless downloads cost the same as the mp3 downloads?

    Still can't wait for them!!!

    Re: Downloads are Here

I won't add my voice to those complaining about what is/is not available for download at this point, but I'd like to point out a couple of things.

The earliest concert available for download is from November 1972.  Going through my favorites list, there are at least 10 concerts from dates earlier than that that I would really like to download. Is there a particular reason you've been offering these concerts in the Concert Vault, many since the Vault first came online, but haven't made any of the available for download? (I don't mean just the ones that are on my favorites list, but any concert from the earlier period.)

I find it interesting that of the 57 Staff Picks, only 5 are available for download.  I suppose a case could be made that there are roughly the same ratio of all downloads to all concerts (although the all downloads/all concerts percentage is actually 40% higher than the staff picks percentage), I would have thought that more of what the staff likes would be on the download list.

    Re: Downloads are Here

Your're right about Ten Years Ater,CSNY,and the Allmans but most of the concerts available for download now seem to be the same as the KBFH CD Series that are available at most music stores.

    Re: Downloads are Here

Thanks for these concerts! It brings back alot of memeories.
I heard about this site after watching CBS's Sunday Morning show a while back, and I thought it was mentioned that there was an extensive video collection. If so, will these be availble for purchase also too? My kids are into many of the same bands I saw 25 -30 years ago and it would be great to show these bands to them in their prime.

    Re: Downloads are Here

If someone at Wolfgang's Vault could post a tentative date for lossless downloads it would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
