    Re: Downloads Done Right

Great News and thanks for taking the steps to make this available to us via download. Like many other comments, I urge you to consider a lossless format, like FLAC. Most bands that offer concerts online make them available as MP3 AND lossless. Even if you charge a premium for the better quality, people will want to hear the music in its pristine state. I really hope you can offer these shows in both versions.

Thanks again and look forward to spending a lot of money at the Vault.

    Re: Downloads Done Right

Thank you for taking a stand.

I am concerned about MP3 quality.  I would also be interested in a lossless download or ordering a lossless CD.

The sound quality difference between an MP3 and an original factory CD is obvious when played on either my home system or my car.  Thus, I no longer bother with MP3's, not due to incompatability, but sound quality.  For the general music public, this difference may not be a concern.  I'm guessing, however, that many people who enjoy the concerts here are more particular about sound quality, whether they are collectors, audiophiles, musicians, or they simply enjoy music at a very high, and not a casual, level (count me as all 4).

If there is a show I really want (Ozzy Osbourne/Randy Rhoads '81), I'll pay whatever it costs for a lossless version.  I already have a great non-lossless version of the broadcast, so a non-lossless download is not that attractive to me.  Muleman2 has a great point about having lossless and non-lossless versions available for different prices.  Plus, choice increases sales.

Thanks for such an unprecedented site,

    Brad

PS.  I guess one way to offer choice, if not having 2 download versions, would be to make the lossless version a CD order.

    Re: Downloads Done Right

    Greetings from Americas Dairyland.
This vault joint gets better and better.
Good tunes while shopping for good tees and now tunes to go.
I am very grateful for the chance to revisit shows that I may have been too out of shape to really pay attention to at the time. Thanks to your entire team.
It really is corporate music insanity that says when you buy a song download you cannot put it on cd for listening in the barn. Perhaps they need to take a break and come smell our dairy-air.

    Re: Downloads Done Right

Thanks so much for all the work you guys do to repair and re-master these recordings, they are amazing - DO THEM JUSTICE with a lossless format (your post seemed to indicate MP3 only?). Everything else on this site is the best, please don't fail to offer a lossless format. I like many others on this forum will spend significant $ to get lossless downloads, but would, with great disappointment, not download MP3. This music was meant to be played loud on a real stereo with no loss in quality. It will be great to have it portable, but even the stuff I carry around on my ipod is lossless. PLEASE do it like everything else here - right. We'll pay extra, really

    Re: Downloads Done Right

Everything will be fine mp3 too, you always can convert mp3 files to WAV to burn a CD and keep the mp3 file in your computer. Hope to download soon at a good price, I never downloaded illegally if you enjoy the music you don't steal the artists. I'am 50 years old and I  enjoy the muisic since 1971. PayPal payment will be perfect fast and safe for both

    Re: Downloads Done Right

I would love to see FLAC be the method of choice... MP3 being lossy, and the fact that not all the recordings of these concerts are pristine to begin with, would be the best option.

Distribution on bittorrent would be a cost effective method to handling such large of files, too.

    Dear Vault,

When you start offering downloads in April, please make them lossless!  (FLAC most preferably)

    Re: Downloads Done Right

It would be nice if it just worked.  I created an account, logged in, get the pop-up window, then it says its loading, detecting bandwith, port, etc.....but after all this .....nothing.  No sound.  What´s up?  It is a great idea you have, it´s just not working so well.  Another thing.   The post button should be at the bottom, not up at the top where you would not think to look for it.

Frank, try it again and let us know if you still have the problem.  If you do, let us know via the CONTACT US page and we'll do more detailed diagnosis for you.

    Re: Downloads Done Right

By all means make the music available. If you build fans, you build consumers. Music has to matter to people & most of the people who run the music business think that only business matters. Pay the musicians a fee, but respect the love & needs of the fans........AA

    Re: Downloads Done Right

This website just keeps on delivering.  I come back every Tuesday anxiously awaiting who you add next...A lot of the King Biscuit shows I remember collecting as young taper - but only in edited form (The KISS '84 Nashiville I have only ever seen like 5 songs from) -- a lot I have NEVER seen...and I know you have more in that vault of yours :)  (Lets see more of the BGP shows!)

With the news of Downloads coming available next month -- man that's about as exciting as Ronnie James Dio rejoining Black Sabbath!!  I will be downloading many things from you guys -- many that I keep coming back here to listen to over and over again...

One tiny request that some have already asked for and cannot be stressed enough...

    PLEASE OFFER FLAC FORMAT!!
