Dreams/Allman Brothers/Canned Heat at Fillmore East

    Vaultkeepers,

I was fortunate to have attended a number of concerts at the Fillmore East.  One of the best, if not THE best concert featured Canned Heat as the main act with the Allman Brothers as the second lead-on and Dreams was the opener.

As was typical of the Fillmore, all the bands were great, but these guys killed.  Dreams, featuring the Brecker Brothers and Billy Cobham set the bar as high as it could go.  There were only a handful of bands that could possibly have topped that, and the Allman Brothers (with Duane) were one of them.

Canned Heat couldn't match the musicianship of these two groups, but they took a different angle.  Their sheer joy of being on stage and playing swept the crowd and made a nice finish to a great evening.

If you could locate and post this concert, I would be grateful.

The only concert we currently have available is at Parr Meadows, Long Island, NY 09/07/1979. I have created a new concert forum for you and will move this post there. Be on the lookout, as we are adding 5 concerts to the concert listings weekly.

    Hi Blue_Meanie,

Who were the performers at the Parr Meadows concert?

Although I'm not sure the year of the concert I referenced, it was before Duane Allman passed away - pre 1972.  I don't think Dreams lasted that long, either.
