No, it's not likely at all that someone in Bill Graham's organization, in addition to a co-worker taping the show "professionally," was also recording the show from the audience. That's a ludicrous assumption that wouldn't hold up in a kangaroo court.
The show's quality and Zep's immense power in general are not in question here. And I'm not looking to "bite the hand that feeds me," but unless the audience source - what you refer to as "high quality room tapes" - is *also* from Bill Graham's archives, there's a bit of false advertising in play here.
These recordings are touted as being masters from Graham's archives. In this case that claim is patently false - unless someone is prepared to step forward and state definitively that the audience source also originated from the Graham organization.
Otherwise, whoever is making these recordings available also made the curious decision to use a *bootleg* source that includes an *audience* recording to represent Led Zep's set on that night.
What I'm asking is, "what was the rationale behind that decision?"
