True, but Zep makes up for their inferior guitar sound with blazing, adrenaline pumping vocals.

Eh-em! Jimmy Page Rules! The sychronicity of Page, Plant and the stars that made Led Zeppelin the powerhouse that it was.

Apples and oranges!  Page is a technically accomplished guitarist that combined various styles. Where Hendrix had a very unorthodox blues based style and was much more into improvisation. Both are great in very different ways...

    Re: Led Zep 1/10/69

Sure, but Hendrix was greater! (he he he)

But seriously, Hendrix did it all - improvisation and the traditional stuff. My favorite Hendrix album was Blues largely because of the accoustic "Hear My Train". But the Hendrix we have is all loose wide open. I love it.

Zeppelin did it's thing and did it well, but in the opinion of this reporter Hendrix could do it all.

I have to agree with Dantana. Its apples and oranges. I love Hendrix and I love the Led. I could never see the point of people going into threads about Band X saying that Band Y was better.

I remember seeing the Led in 1969. It was in July at te Seattle Arts Festival, and they were totally energized! This concert at the Fillmore was similar. I loved the bit where Robert mentions whether they will make it or not! Classic!

    Re: Led Zep 1/10/69

Hendrix was in a class all his own.  Original as hell.  Page is a fantastic player too but not quite the same type of player.  Hell... I have Zappa on the same level as those guys but for different reasons.  Guts.

So what? Both were great, and both had their own identity.
But seriously, I heard enough Hendrix bootlegs of him playing out of tune and out of key, so give me a break!

How about all of the sets from all of the shows from the period?  Not that I am greedy or anything.

Is the show from 4th September 1970 at the Forum, Inglewood, LA in the vaults?  In fact any show from the Forum?  One of the concerts from 1977 for the benefit of any badgeholders.  I have the famous "Listen to the Eddie" boot; I'd love to compare this with a soundboard recording.

    Re: Led Zep 1/10/69

Boys, Boys... Hendrix also had a bag of tricks. They are called early guitar effects. He used roto sound (leslie speaker synth box), early wah-wah, and echo/delay effects combined. These were prototypes at the time. I have a few here at home now,    but then...it was...all new. He was great .....but he also had some electronic help. Long live Hendrix!
