    the allman bros band

i had the priviledge of seeing the allman bros band at the fillemore east on sat nite(sun morn really), on june 26, 1971. my seat was in row hh, center...8 rows from the stage.  the allman bros hit the stage, aroun 4:15, a.m. they started out with "statesboro blues". the highlight of the show was, "wipping post", right into "mountain jam". this incredible bit of music, lasted about 55 minutes. i even rember the light show for "statesboro blues." it was  an old-fashioned steam engine, with a cow catcher, over a field of green/. i had to leave around 7:15 a.m. to catch a train to the ct state line, where i drove from, hartford. anybody out there lucky enough to see that show? i'll leave my e-mail address, in case there are, or if you want to talk about the allman bros, or any memorable concert you saw. please e-mail me at

I was too young to have seen this great band in the heyday. The new concert just added here from Cow Palace is so sick its ridiculous. I have heard all the allman concerts here and this is the best. Even though Duane was great, I like dickie betts and chuck leveal the best. the jams in this concert are second to none!

Somebody has to release the video of the Fillmore Concerts before I die. It's been too damn long for those concerts to have never been seen or released. I have seen bits of clips that are junk, and it's time to see the professional versions once and for all.

I wass fortunatue enough to see the Allman Bros Band on June 26, 1971, the night (morning) before the Fillmore East closed.I got a ticket, thru, the mail row HH(eight row center, orchestra) for $5.50!!back then, there were two scheduled shows 7:30 and 11:30. on the bill were, with the allman bros, albert king, and the j. geils band. i brought a bllind date with me. we drove from hartford, ct. to the n.y state line; and took the train into NYC.when we were in line, waiting to enter the hallowed hall, the late, very great bill graham  passed us! wow! because of the length of the first show, our show began around 1 a.m, when albert king when on stage. the j geils band started palying around 2:45 a m. the allman bros started playing a litle after 4-A.M.!. they started out with "statesboro blues", followed by"somebody wrong'." to this day, i can still remember the light show for "stateboro blues."- and old-fashioned train, with a cow catcher, over a field of green. the highlite of the show was when they played"whipping post", right into "mountain  jam." together, about, one hour, or so. amazing!!!. i was hoping they would play "revivial.". we  had to wait 'till around seven in the morning. whew!we had to leave at 7:15, to catch the train.. something i'll remember for the rest of my life!
