the complete knebworth show is available on a double dvd called Freebird The Movie but for some strange reason freebird the song is from a completely different gig.I was lucky enough to see the boys (and girls)play a barnstormin set in the afternoon,no wonder the stones were so late coming on,they were completely blown off stage by shortlived but great band.

I did get to see them as a teeneager once but can you believe I had tickets already for a show that never came to fruition? They crashed. I was dumb enough to cash my ticket back in for the money rather than hold onto a collector's item. Show was for Roberts Stadium in Evansville, IN.

    Hi Oldhippy.

Can you remember where the gig was in Cardiff? Curiosity really. I live in Cardiff and just wondered where it was?

    Cheers,

Re: how about some Lynyrd Skynyrd?

I was home for Christmas and going through some old high school stuff I found not one but TWO ticket stubs from Skynyrd concerts in the 70s.  I thought I'd only been to one until the stubs reminded me.  Ironically, I had a ticket to a show that unfortunately they were unable to make.  The plane crash was the week before my third show.  Like a buffoon I turned my ticket back in for a refund.  What was wrong with me?  Tickets were less than $10 back then!

I do have the honor of passing out in the front row while "Free Bird" blasted though!!!!!  After a day of laying in the sun, working on my perfect tan... a half pint of rum in a glass of Hawiian Punch... standing for a couple of hours in a crowd of sweaty teenagers, front row, music blasting, 100 degree stadium... My 94 pound body collapsed during THE song and my understanding little boyfriend carried me through the parting crowd to fresh air.  Dang it I missed the encore!  Oh to be 16 again (my poor parents...) :)

I saw Lynrd Skynrd at The Cow Palace in S.F. new years eve, two years in a row, 89-90 and the next year 90-91, they were great times, Steve Earle opened one show,he was trashed, werent we all? Jerry Lee Lewis was supposed to open too, but never showed.

this 4/27/75 show has no Billy and a harp player whose name escapes me....Sam McPherson?  Billy had effed up his hand and couldn't play....and this harp guy took all his parts...I was there and it was one the if not THE hottest show I have ever seen.  Ed left for Gimme Back My Bullets tour...this one is Nuthin' Fancy.....

Not even sure the date is right on this...saw all the Skynyrd Winterland shows...but I'm old and my memory is SHOT now.  :)
