    First true metal?

Has anyone heard that Sunshine of your Love was the world's first heavy metal song?

Is this true and generally accepted or just the opinion of some guy who was sitting next to me in the waiting room and would not stop talking about Clapton?

If it is true, it seems to add a few points to Clapton in terms of "significance in history".

Either way it doesn't change the fact I enjoy play the song in GH3.

For what it's worth, a better, that is, an earlier candidate, would be 'You Really Got Me' by The Kinks.

But all due credit to the greatness and originality of'Sunshine' which by the way is only really heavy in the 'Disraelli Gears' version when heard in MONO. This way the drums sound strong enough but in the stereo mix they sound very weak.
