me:Has anyone heard Springsteen's June 29, 1985 show in Paris? I have a bootleg dvd of the concert, and the quality is awesome. As far as I can tell, the quality is right up there with Passaic.
Was a video made of the Winterland show, or not?
there's always been much debate in the bruce community as to about whether this was videoed. it would definitely be one of the holy grails of springsteen videos. i can't believe that bill graham WOULDN'T have shot it. my friend's sister worked with the joshua light show at the fillmore east in the late 60's and back then, many/all (?) of the shows were video taped. in addition to the winterland show, i'm hoping that there might be a video of bruce playing with steel mill in 1970 at either the matrix or the fillmore.. there's a ray of hope in there somewhere for that to exist as well. graham offered them a contract back then and they turned it down because bill didn't offer them enough money.
as to the quality of the paris dvd.... yea..it's great. but for my money the 3rd generation videos i've had since the early 80's of the '78 capitol theater shows in passiac are much more watchable. even grainy black and white bruce in 1978 will aways beat a perfectly shot dvd version of full color springsteen of 1985 in my mind. just a matter of opinion i guess.
now a perfect dvd 1978 full color springsteen from winterland...that's a horse of a whole other color....
