    Re: What's Goin' On

Thanks so much for all the work you guys do to repair and re-master these recordings, they are amazing - DO THEM JUSTICE with a lossless format (your post seemed to indicate MP3 only?). Everything else on this site is the best, please don't fail to offer a lossless format. I like many others on this forum will spend significant $ to get lossless downloads I would be crushed if all you offered were MP3's as this format is dramatically inferior and I would, in great despair, not download this format.

    Re: What's Goin' On

I saw the Beatles twice and I saw the Grateful Dead in Egypt. I saw whole lot of shows between 1968 and 1974 and a whole lot after. I love live music and the way Bill put on shows and still occasionally work the Fillmore, Warfield etc. just to keep that spirit an important, essential part of my life.  Lifelong San Franciscan, I`ve attended a very high percentage of the bay area vault concerts. I remember one morning, sitting at a table watching the sun rise over the pyramids in Egypt. Bill was also at the table and so was Jerry. Some years later, in Bill`s book, he wrote that that time was the best time of his life. With all my heart I want to thank you at Wolfgangs Vault for puting this awesomely wonderful totally cool site together allowing me to get so close to the best times of my life. I think Bill would be very proud. Thanks again and

    Cheers

    Re: What's Goin' On

    Wolfgang,

First of all....God Bless Your Heart!  This is a fantastic site!  Having wound up in California..(from Detroit)...and summarily discharged from the Synanon, a place that put the "C" in Cult...I found myself in this strange city San Francisco.  Re-entry was tough at 1st, until discovering that I had moved into an apartment, a few blocks from Winterland.

What a great place! Rock N' Roll Caligula at it's most exciting decadence.  It was there that I was to experience some great live shows that were (almost) as good as those experienced in Detroit's own sanctuary, The Grande Ballroom, where night after night, Detroit's own MC5 would blow the doors off of national and international acts.  Oh' what great fun it was back int the day.  Going to Winterland was akin to attending church. We did not "see" concerts...we experienced them as a sort of tribal gathering.

To find this gem WOLFGANG'S VAULT means so much to this writer.  To hear there are plans in the works to begin streaming concert footage from old shows....well, there is now no choice but to acquire the most beeotchinest computer with at least 4 gigs of memory.  I hope you plan to include some Detroit acts like Seger & Nugent. When they would blow through town, I'd rustle up all my dear "Deadhead" friends to share wht REAL rock n' roll was all about.  I'll never forget the night that Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band blew the Blue Oyster Cult right off the Winterland Stage.

Of course, my all time favorite Winterland show was when the WHO took the stage on the last tour before the demise of Keith Moon.  What a show! Having scored a ticket (for free) right outside the venue just minutes before the band took the stage...I was able to make it to my favorite seating area...stage right....just above the band in the balcony.  Racing to my seat as the house lights dimmed...the roar from the crowd put some lead in my pencil as Pete came out swinging those windmill power chords to "I Can't Explain"

Keep up the good work Mr. Sagan and please check the other correspondance sent.  You guys are definately moving in the right direction.

    P.S. Let's see/hear some EARTHQUAKE!

    Re: What's Goin' On

The site and the redesign are phenomenal gifts to the music loving community - thanks for all the hard work.

I'm enjoying the new CSNY set that was just posted and noted a discrepancy in the description that I wanted to point out.  The musicians credited include Calvin Samuels on bass and Johnny Barbata on drums, but the description that follows mentions Greg Reeves and Dallas Taylor, who played on the Deja Vu album.

Who played with CSNY at these shows?

    Thanks again!
