    Chicago Transit Authority

Great, great changes to the site.  But what happened to Chicago Transit Authority?  No concerts listed for them now.  Are you still in the process of converting everything over to the new format?  Thanks.

    Re: Chicago Transit Authority

You got it - there are still a ton of concerts in the transitional state between the origional media and being converted to the streaming digital format that will eventualy be up on the site. So stay tuned, it won't be long before CTA gets posted to the Concert Vault.

Also, I just created a Chicago Transit Authority performer forum for you.

Look forward to their concert stuff too - saw them at the Auditorium in Chicago in 69 I think, a sublime concert pre their pop meltdown. :)

    Re: Chicago Transit Authority

Really looking forward to the CTA show(s).  Based on the few tunes from the concert vault this was a great show back when CHI was really willing to take chances with their music.  A real groundbreaking band.  Why aren't they in the R & R Hall of Fame?  Seems to me their contibution should not be ignored.

Any way, hope CTA is added soon!!!

Agreed on all counts about this band. Jimi Hendrix was quoted more than once as saying he really liked them.

Another CTA fan here anxiously awaiting a concert.

Thanks for including them in the rotation so many weeks. What a treat to hear "new" Terry Kath!

All I want for Christmas is my CTA.

I CAN'T AGREE MORE!!!  I saw them at The Whiskey A GO GO in '69 (even though I grew up in the same neighborhood as them, I first saw them in LA!), and they blew the place out!

Yeah, Hendrix thought that Kath could outplay him, and hell yeah, that they aren't in the R&R Hall of Fame, (& some of the other bands that are...) is SCANDALOUS! They were so very innovative, with how they used the horns,  definitely NOT the typical "horn band"....

Although they did go thru periods of "creative stagnation/malaise", I've seen them a few times over the years (even opened for them at Aloha Stadium in 78 or 79), and they still had their moments, where they cut loose, changed up arrangements, etc.

But that CTA album was a classic, & the first CHICAGO album was incredible as well. I remember hearing the entire album side with "It Better End Soon", while at a wild party in '69, and that song/suite/side was SOOOOO FUNKY!

Even their sax/flute guy played his azz off on a long, kickin flute solo!

    Re: Chicago Transit Authority

I'll be happy to listen to "Chicago Transit Authority" and "Chicago".  As long as it's from the Terry Kath era - pre 1978!

    Re: Chicago Transit Authority

Hell yea, I'd love to hear some CTA.
Their 4 disc Carnegie Hall album was rather weak---performance-wise and audio-wise.
The only other pre-1972 show I have found has been that ubiquitous Toronto '69 bootleg.
Very surprised how I have NOT been able to find more concert boots of CTA over the years.

Someone is sitting on a load of CTA soundboard tapes somewhere...

Looking forward to what CV puts up!

    Rock on, CV!

    Dear Mr. Roboto,

As they use to say on MTV, "I want my CTA". Please.

    Thanks

    Re: Chicago Transit Authority

    I second that emotion.

Just a friendly reminder from CTA Fans that we are out here. I know you have promised CTA but just wanted to keep their name fresh in mind - squeaky wheel etc. etc.
