When the lossless versions are available, I think the floodgates will open here (I know there will be many, many lossy downloaders).  Please make the lossless versions available ASAP.  I'll be your best customer!

    Re: Downloads Coming in April

I second what most people say.  I want Lossless.  Will fork over more money to get lossless, ie short shows should be less money than long shows.  Check out Govt Mule over at Mule Tracks.  We are very good at policing ourselves ie no soundboards posted by the Allman Brothers anywhere.  I will NOT pay to download an mp3 regardless of the quality.

Thank you for following through on your promise to offer downloads. I am especially pleased to see that you have chosen to make the initial offerings  available at a very reasonable price of $9.98.
Count me in as a potential customer. I'll be waiting patiently for the big news.

    Re: Downloads Coming in April

One thing notably absent was any mention of the legal issues.  Is this feature going to be shut down as soon as it goes up?

Have you worked out a way to share revenue with the artists?  It looks like you countersued yesterday (http://www.mp3.com/news/stories/8865.html) so I guess that's not in the plans.  But I sure would like you to hammer out something at least with the Doors.

    Re: Downloads Coming in April

You know what, shame on these Record Companies and Artists.  This market was ALWAYS just waiting for the chance to thrive and these people are now upset because they didn't do it first to corner and suffocate yet another part of the music industry that is already strained from such greedy and stale ways.  The Soviet Union collapsed and so did the Berlin Wall.....the Music Industry as we know it today will be afforded the same fate unless it grows and changes with the times.

When you pass you CAN'T take it with you so why not enjoy it now with ALL the fans that have waited so long for it.

BRAVO on the countersuit.  Sometimes we all NEED a bloody nose to remind us that we ARE only human no matter what else we think or feel.

    Re: Downloads Coming in April

Would you consider a program for those of us who require lossless where we could purchase the mp3's on a temporary basis & then be allowed to upgrade to lossless when available at no charge?

    Re: Downloads Coming in April

Here's a totally off the wall suggestion.  (Coming from me, big surprise, eh?)

Along with most who have responded to this thread, I would greatly prefer a lossless format.  But then again, I'm rather impatient, and would love to have some of the concerts sooner than later.  Seeing as it doesn't take a great amount of technological know-how to capture the music you're presently offering, how about as a favor to those of us who want to "do the right thing" and purchase the music from you, if when you offer the concerts in a lossless format, a person who has already purchased a concert in mp3 format for $9.95, could, for a nominal fee, then legally purchase the same concert in the higher quality format?  That would allow an old hippie like me to have his cake and eat it too, while not having to worry about the state of his karma, other than the damage caused by run-on sententences.

My apologies to moo, who in a much more succinct manner, has already requested nearly what I just did.
