    Re: Downloads Coming in April

For all those people who have asked can we lose the gaps, YES THEY WILL, they have already said that they will lose the gaps when you download a complete concert. The gaps are to do with the streaming mechanism.

    Re: Downloads Coming in April

This is a fantastic service, and the offer to download shows for less than $10 is excellent and very fair.

Please can we have some PINK FLOYD shows from the Fillmore West or East that have previously been unavailable, if they exist in your vaults that is. The Pink Floyd have performed at the Fillmore other than on 29th April 1970, and in LA on 9th May 1977. Both these shows have been in circulation and available elsewhere, and are identical to the recordings that are available on your Concert Vault, excellent as they are.

Do you have any Pink Floyd concerts in your vaults that are completely unique? I'm sure the Floyd performed at the Fillmore East in 1967. It would be magnificent if you could unearth anything pre 1970.

Garcias for all this fantastically detailed archiving of completely awesome material - a fine example where technology has really paid off: the preservation of a incredibly golden era of music and art.

May I throw in a request for Genesis' 1/24/1975 shrine performance for DL earlier than later. Thanks In advance.

PSA for all those who decide not to actually read - try it, it will save you the time of posting questions already answered in the first post or others that followed.

Somewhere, Bill Graham is smiling knowing that those who are 'running the store' are doing his legacy up proud.

If I had three thumbs, they'd all be up!

    Re: Downloads Coming in April

Yes,a 1967 Pink Floyd show with Syd Barret would be outstanding, probably the greatest find in the vault with The Velvet Underground or 13th Floor Elevators

This site is a treasure. I shall gladly pay for this service, the only time I have ever done so for a service of this nature. Kudos!

    Excellent!! More Aerosmith?

First of all - GREAT SITE!  Probably my favorite for listening to live recordings.  And now, downloads??  You guys ROCK!!  We all appreciate what you're doing.  1 question - how come only 1 Aerosmith show?  There's got to be more out there.   Anyway, can't wait till April.  ROCK ON!

    Re: Downloads Coming in April

Thanks for putting downloads without the breaks for us. Are there shows taped at any of the  Oakland Day On The Greens from 79-82? Keep up the great job getting this unreal live music.

Sorry, But This Boat Won't Float

Sorry, but the good ship "Lossypop" I refuse to board.  The problem with your providing lossy downloads is that the inevitable idiot, probably many idiots, will convert the lossy (mp3) downloads to FLAC.  Wonderful!  But now the idiot(s) will distribute lossy product as lossless.  Along comes Conscientious Trader Joe with his original DAT > WAV > FLAC recording of the Howdy Hoodoos -- the only recording ever made before their plane went down in the Whiffacoochee -- and offers to trade his high-quality CDR for Lossy Idiot's crappy fake.

Trader Joe now does a frequency analysis on the spot, with his laptop computer, before forking over his Howdy Hoodoos disc to Lossy Idiot.  Guess what?  Lossy's crummy coaster not only does not cause Joe's laptop to melt down, but passes with flying colors!  (See links in final paragraph on how this can be).  Joe will now give Aunt Leslie lossy, mutt material from the Vault, in spite of its passing muster with EAC. (That's Exact Audio Copy, the preferred frequency analysis tool, for you audiophile neophytes).

Lossy, being the genius he is, will immediately take Joe's Howdy Hoodoos FLAC CDR, convert its contents to mp3 with and for his crappy computer, and set his beer mug down on Joe's CDR, as he has neither mind nor ear for its value, put up his feet, and congratulate himself on a job well done.

In a perfect world, mp3 wouldn't even exist.  Imperfect as the real world is, however, we can take measures to preserve quality.  Distributing the Graham treasure as lossless only -- sorry, Concert Vault Radio lovers -- is one step in the right direction.  I am sorry to report, however, that I am late -- the process of corruption has already begun.  Lossy Idiots are copying the contents of Wolfgang's Vault radio stream and, you guessed it, converting them to FLAC.  In keeping with principle, I do not listen to the Vault radio stream.  Like many others who've joined the Vault forums of late, I will wait for the real deal of FLAC downloads.  Meanwhile the very verifiability of the coming original FLAC downloads you promise, diminishes with each passing day.  Meanwhile, the deluge of dilution, and the proliferation of fake FLAC.

Finally, rummage through this, read that, and burn the other thing into your brain, if you want to learn just how hard it can be to detect lossy audio, and how to become a better trader.
