    Re: Welcome to Concert Vault

The new format has lots of great new music, but....

I sit working, and listening to this excellent music and then all of a sudden I have dead air.  I am told that since I have not interacted for the last 3 hours I have to re-login.  This is troubling and quite annoying!  My choice is to simply listen to the selection without needing to get additional information about the concerts, or the artist.  I just want to enjoy the music without interruption.  Is this possible?

    Re: Welcome to Concert Vault

Well, I think the initial shock has finally began to subside after listening through a few choice performances. Now that I've had some time to synthesize what the site offers I thought I would give a little feedback (only in an effort to improve - not to critique). First and foremost, I noticed you had mentioned you will be adding 5 (or so) performances every week. Is there any area to see major updates or will subscribed users be notified via email? I would certainly like to either know or be able to find out when an additional show or change is made. As far as layout, I would just like to echo what many others have already said in stating tha the layout is extremely intuitive and fun to use. Past that, I thought I would mention some artists I would simply love to see up on the vault:

    • Mahavishnu Orchestra
    • Joni Mitchell
    • Steely Dan
    • Roy Buchanan
    • Ry Cooder
    • Pink Floyd (more 70's!!)
    • Bob Dylan
    • Blind Faith
    • Talking Heads
    • Miles Davis
    • Frank Zappa
    • King Curtis
    • Billy Preston
    • The Meters
    • Jeff Beck (mid/late 70's!)
    • Jethro Tull
    • Leon Russell
    • Nick Drake
    • Paul Simon
    • Velvet Underground
    • Leo Kottke

Thank you for your unbeleivably selfless approach to the site and the music community, at large. It is greatly appreciated.

    Re: Welcome to Concert Vault

Thank you very much for making this music available to listen too!  I was a teenager during most of these shows and could not go and see them.

    What a treat!

    Re: Welcome to Concert Vault

Oh please, please - Jeff Beck Truth; John Mayhall & the Blues Breakers with Mick Taylor; Spirit; Albert Collins; more B.B. King; Blodwyn Pig; Chicken Shack; Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green (when they were good); Joe Cocker; Canned Heat; Procol Harum; Roland Kirk; Jack Bruce; Free; Otis Rush; Buddy  Guy; Howlin Wolf,, etc. etc etc.

Otherwise, you've done a really great job. I've been emailing the revised site all over the world tonight!!

    Good luck.

    Re: Welcome to Concert Vault

The Vault Radio player is programmed to stop playing if you have not interacted with it in three hours.  "Interacting" is clicking on any link in Vault Radio; Options, Tell A Friend, modifying volume, linking to posters, etc.  You may have to also login again because your session with our website has expired, again if you have not interacted with it.

We do this to save on bandwidth costs. We know you may enjoy listening uninterrupted, but in the streaming world, if you simply "leave the radio on" it costs us money.  This feature prevents people from leaving the radio on all night long.

We think it's a minor inconvenience; when you do re-enter Vault Radio it will begin playing at the last song you were at.

    Cheers - MrPC

    Re: Welcome to Concert Vault

    thesoulbook:

Hello, can you be more specific about The Doors soundboards you have and why you are sitting on them?  Please don't respond with the standard "see my answer from several months ago" deal.

    1. How many Doors concerts from Graham venues do you have in your archive?  You stated you have already transferred and mastered them.

    2. Do any of these Doors soundboards contain a rare performance of "The Soft Parade?"  It is believed this was performed at The Cow Palace in 1969.  Do you have this particular date?

    3. When you say The Doors don't pass internal quality tests, can you please be specific as to what is holding them back from Web distribution? A lot of soundboards by other artists here are live direct to mono soundboards with sometimes awkward mixes.  So how much worse are the multiple Doors soundboards you stated you have? What is wrong with them? Sound fidelity? Performance?

    4. On what type of tape media were these late 60s era soundboards taped?  For example, did Graham record the Doors direct to mono on a 1/4 tape machine at 7.5 ips? Direct to twin track stereo?  Or did he tape them on 4 track, 8 track at 15ips etc?

    Thanks!

    Re: Welcome to Concert Vault

I would like to thank all those involved from the bottom of my heart as this is a great achievment.  I hope the library continues to grow so that we will all be able to share this great resource with our friends, family, and loved ones. I'm just so happy that this has been made available to all - and at no cost!  Truely in the spirit of the music...hats off!

Just learned about the site today.  Sitting here listening to Van Morrison from 1978.  This site, and the truly rich content you've put on it, is incredible.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!
