All of you who read this thread will want to know about this week's concerts.  We've released the Philadelphia and Capital Center 1973 shows in their entirety (almost - we are missing one track from the Philadelphia show).

We also have an interesting puzzle we'd love to hear from you on.  For more see:

    cheers - Mr. PC

    Mike from NYC:
    Uncle Chick:
Also, while "Relax" is noted as incomplete, no mention is made of the fact that "A Quick One While He's Away" is also incomplete. The first part of the song is missing and begins with the Ivar the Engine Driver section.

They ran out of tape which is why there are the gaps in Rael/Relax and A Quick One.

I don't think so. Every version of this show I've heard, including the one here, seems to be sourced from acetate. There are clicks and pops all over and sibilance is often quite bad, as if the stylus wasn't tracking well. Relax is particularly distorted, which would make sense if it was the inner track on an acetate. Note that My Generation also fades out.

Re: The Who April 6, 1968 Fillmore East Show

I was just fifteen years old on April 6th, 1968, and had already been to the newly opened Fillmore East twice ( Big Brother on opening night in March, and the Doors two weeks later.) I had just purchased a pro style 35mm camera with several lenses, so I took pictures at each show. I never paid for tickets either. I'd just stand out front before the show and ask if anyone had an extra.

I was a veteran of Who shows too, having seen them several times at Murray the K's 1967 Easter show, and twice when they performed at the run down Village Theater a bit later that same year. Bill Graham, somehow, miraculously transformed the threadbare and smelly old Village Theater into the shiny new Fillmore East with a green and yellow paint job and an amazing staff. You could tell that the Who noticed the hall's upgrade, they called the old place a "piss hole," as they introduced a song that night.

Also, if I remember correctly, as Pete was smashing his guitar, a young woman in a front seat got hit by a piece of it. Roger wore pink satin velvet trousers with a white shirt and vest on stage that night. Townshend wore a wool ski sweater. Stylishly, they were as different as...

I still have those photos, and one day I will do a webstite so I can share them. It's quite a daunting project, but I know that the feedback from classic rock lovers will be rewarding.
