I agree with most of the comments previously stated on this subject.

I love the Vault, the shows, and all the work the Vaulterians have put into it, but I will not spend my dollars here until these historic recordings are offered for sale in a lossless format such as Flac or Ape.

If your aim is to make this a successful enterprise, give the folks what we're asking for and you will be rewarded!

I guess if anyone really wanted the shows they could just hook up an external recorder to the audio output of their computer and burn the shows for free.....

I bet there will be an official response now!

not sure. shows are actually an mp3 stream at just 96Kbps.

The Vault makes far more money selling tshirts and posters than they ever could selling lossless songs, which would only piss off the owners of the music more.

    They're being smart.

No surprise, The Vault, like so many music sites, disregards their potentially best customers.  MP3 is obsolete; has been for a LONG TIME.

As always, it's the jam-band community that has a clue, not the old tired "rock establishment."  Bands selling shows in FLAC or Shorten: Phish, Widespread Panic, Gov't Mule, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Umphreys McGee, The Disco Biscuits...  Just to name a few.

I've purchased a couple shows here (The Outlaws and UFO).  After spending a couple hours fixing them in Adobe Audition (CoolEdit), they are ok, but too much work.

I will, again, offer my servicecs in encoding wav sets to FLAC, with no sector boundary errors.  Or I'll teach somebody at The Vault how to do it.  Let's go!  We want lossless!

And forget recording the stream with Audacity or Total Recorder:  major compression, sounds worse than a 3rd generation cassette tape that's been frying on the dashboard for a couple months.

Looks like they've finally done it.  I notice a Quicksilver Messenger Service show available in FLAC. Also one by Return to Forever, but there's some hum on that one.   Still way to go !  I hope they offer some Mahavishnu, my personal favorite.

    KEEP 'EM COMING !!

Congrats and kudos to The Vault for finally getting it right with offering lossless compression formats (FLAC).  Hopefully, many shows will be offered.

Does anybody know, are these 24 bit?  Or 16?  And are they seamless and cut on sector boundaries?

Nah, doesn't work like that.  MP3 is MP3.  I would also pay extra $ for FLAC.

Along these lines, are all the shows 256 kbps, or does it differ between shows?

Is there any way to tell which downloads are flac? I don't see a way to find

just those without searching all of them.
