    Re: We’re Getting Closer…

Can you give us a better idea of when this will happen?  I know it's still April, but many of us are 'chomping at the bit' to buy these.

I'm sure you're doing your best to make this the best possible download possible, but a date would be helpful.  Probably though, opening it up without telling anyone would help you adjust whatever you need after the initial opening.

Can't wait for the lossless downloads (hint, hint)!

    Re: We’re Getting Closer…

3 / $10 !!?? dude, no way. where can you buy any music regardless of quality or quantity for $3 ?  how can you complain about ten bucks for a full length show ?  people will steal music no matter what the original purchaser paid.  "too cheap, no one will bother ?! "...head shaking .

    CowboyNeal:

Can't wait for these to start coming out.

Last I read you were thinking of charging something like $9.99 / show. Seems high to me. If you were charging something like $3.99 and 3 / $10, I would be far more likely to spend something like $50.00 at your download store. At $9.99 / show I probably wiill only buy 1 show.

A lower price makes it far less likely people will steal illegal copies. Why charge a premium for unprotected? Charge less and don't protect 'em. If they are too cheap to steal no one will bother.

    Re: We’re Getting Closer…

Ten bucks a concert is a very fair price. Count me in, big time.

    Re: We’re Getting Closer…

I agree - $10 is more than fair - especially considering some of the garbage that's out there at 'full retail'.  Count me in.  I would even go for a monthly "subscription price" that gave me all the new weekly concerts at a little discount...say $99/month for 12 new concerts of my choice...

    Re: We’re Getting Closer…

I won't be buying any downloads, I'll just wait tio get copies from the folks that do.

and I would like to know more about the royalties to the artists for the music and the art/merch. seems like there is still some dust that has not settled with the Dead, Santana and others....

I like the site for it's resources that let's me track it down for free elsewhere, hi-quality ta boot. like ABB 12/31/73

    groovy.

    Re: We’re Getting Closer…

Let's not be so cheap and passive/aggresively demanding here...3 for $10? "If they are too cheap to steal no one will bother"??? Nonsense. The general public has just gotten plain creepy and greedy (while at the same time allowing prices for tickets to far inferior concerts to escalate to a level that Wolfgang would have scoffed at)! The site is great, the idea if wonderful and the content fabulous.Let em make a living, and a profit.

    Re: We’re Getting Closer…

I totaly agree with cheaper downloads. I will purchase more concerts at a lower price. With the price of 9.99 i will be buyin less.

    Re: We’re Getting Closer…

If the price per download is $3.99, I suppose we're talking about lossless.  I'd never pay that much for mp3.  I've paid the $0.99 at Apple, but to me that's more palatable than some other pricing scheme.  The point may be made that these are concerts, similar if not more than an album by an artist.  There are only a few albums that I've bought at iTunes.

I've posted before, but count me in as a lossless only guy.

    Re: We’re Getting Closer…

People are saying $9.99 is fair because they're used to paying $15 for a disc at Best Buy.  Consider for the $15 at Best Buy you're getting cover art, a case and the disc provided.  There's also the cost of shipping to the store, shelf space, air conditioning, lease on the building, paying the staff...

For $9.99 Wolfgang's is positing you provide your own disc, your own cover art (or expend your own expensive ink printing a PDF file) and make the disc with your own equipment, and still pay 2/3 of the price you're paying to the retailer.  They have no cost for manufacturing, shipping, or production, yet charge nearly as much!

Sorry, put one more down in the $3.99 (or less!) column.

*Why won't this thing break up my paragraphs?!

    Re: We’re Getting Closer…

$9.99 for a full show at a high bitrate is a good buy.  There are some absolute gems here now.

Complaints about $9.99 seem a little strange to people of my vintage [I'm 43] and have paid a hell of a lot more than that in the past for a "bootleg" of bands I have liked.

Here we have shows even I was too young to attend - never mind that they were on the other side of an ocean - some of them pretty much accepted as "legendary" shows in the rock pantheon.

I'd like to see some of the really special shows given the lossless treatment at some point in the future, FLAC or SHN, in a ideal world they could all be lossless.

But $9.99 IMO, for a full show... is a bargain.

Great site fellas - keep up the sterling efforts...

    Re: We’re Getting Closer…

SOMEBODY PINCH ME PLEASE!!!!  Wolfgang - how do we ever thank you for sharing this site with us?  I swear, 40 years have gone by like a snap, and to relive the music from our youth, it's like a dream come true! I'm 54 and still feel like I did when I saw Hendrix for the first time at 16!  Bless your heart  -  For those of us of a certain age, the music industry has totally sold out and it's just been bloody awful these last few years. Thank you for restoring my faith in the good of people who want to share something on a grander scale and not be so "corporate greedy-like"! Thank you so much  - we will continue to enjoy the music and look forward to where you take us next. Bless you!

    Peace -

    Cindy (ponytail)

I hope this doesn't hasten  the shut down of this site

    Re: We’re Getting Closer…

I bet the legalities will be worked out before downloads begin.  I'm not sure when the downloads will start but legal eagles will have done their job and the backbone/infrastructure (fornat and servers) will be in place before the downloads start.

    I just can't wait!
