    Re: No Doors??

I first joined WV back when it very first started up. I KNOW i saw a doors show from 1967 from San Francisco, cant remember the venue. It was the avalon ballroom, the matrix, or the carosel. I was so overwhelmed by the site that i didn't listen to the show right away. It was only a few days later that i heard on the news that WV was being sued by some big name acts such as led zeppelin and the doors...the doors show was gone after that, but the lz shows stayed. Can someone please explain the situation. please?

    Re: No Doors??

I'll reply for you. The answer that the people at wolfgangs keep giving is that they HAVE doors recordings BUT they are not up to proper sound quality to feature on Wolfgang's vault. What this exactly means is ANYBODY's guess. But there you have it. They CLAIM they have Doors recordings (they did not confirm if they were audience tapes or soundboard tapes) but say there is a problem with the sound quality. Hence you will never, ever hear them.

Kind of tragic when you think about it since Bill Graham dug the Doors and Jim Morrison and Graham produced many Doors shows in '67, famous one at the Cow Palace in '69 and definitely at Winterland in Feb. of 1970. It's unbelieavable that Graham would not have at least ATTEMPTED to record the Doors at least ONCE if not probably TWICE. But alas, there you go. No Doors soundboards from Graham's people have ever been released. As forWolfgang's vault, nothing but a BIG disappointment when it comes to Doors live recordings.

    Re: No Doors??

these sound quality issues is very unfortunate (if any). the doors' live shows definitely deserved to be featured on WV.

and yes, kinda tragic indeed. I can't imagine rock scene of 60's without them.

Re: No Doors?? How about an original poster??? or two

This seems to be an ongoing battle with the Doors themselves, if I'm not mistaken. I find it hard to believe that we can hear recordings on here by bands like Pentangle but the Doors' material is sub-standard quality. Even if it is, so what? Anyone that truely wants to hear these concerts already has, in my estimation, at least a few bootlegs of somebody so they know what to expect in the way of sound quality. I'd actually rather we were lied to. "No, we don't have anything by the Doors" rather than, "we have recordings but you can't handle the quality so you'll never hear them. Sorry". That just insults our collective intelligence IMHO. Why make a recording only to have it lie silent?

It's not just The Doors. The Vault has basically ignored the entire catalog from L.A. O.K., there IS a Byrds show. I don't get it - no Buffalo Springfield, Love, Spirit, etc. Meanwhile, they release shows by other groups that they say right in the liner notes aren't the greatest show. I love the Vault. Idon't listen to radio anymore, but could you free up some more old music from the L.A. Area?
