Re: Concert Vault Feedback
>>Looks like "Indie Monday" is a bust. I went through
the last month and saw 2 comments in total. Does anybody listen to this
stuff? Why devote a day to music that isn't getting listened to? This
music doesn't belong in "The Vault" anyway. Mondays should go back to
the music that comes from the Vault. The lost concerts of the past are
what people look forward to hearing. <<
I myself could care less about "Indie Monday," and will probably never listen to it, nor do I expect many people listen to those concerts. Nonetheless, in 1968, people would have said "who cares about The Loading Zone or Its A Beautiful Day?" While I doubt any of the Indie Monday bands are the next Beatles, someone--not likely me--will probably appreciate it down the line. I prefer to think of Indie Monday as "Lost Concerts of The Future."
However, along those lines I would prefer that there was a Tab that allowed me to search concerts by All Artists Except Indie Monday (and no doubt newer fans could care less about old hippie groups, and would prefer the opposite tab). As the Vault continues to add concerts, the number of different artists is a hindrance in its own right.

Re: Concert Vault Feedback
Personally, I prefer not to try and divide all the music into little category-boxes, although I understand that's often necessary for marketing purposes. I like having the new bands listed in with the old classics (and old obscurities); it encourages people to try something new (or old) that they might not otherwise hear.
I wouldn't even put the Country & Western off in a cowboy ghetto; Carlene Carter may be country but she's backed up by Graham Parker's backing band. Meanwhile, the New Riders are playing pedal steel licks that are far more country than anything the Rumour cooks up. It's all music, I just like some of it more than the rest of it.

Re: Concert Vault Feedback
Love the McCartney show as I was there that night. One question though, why the fade outs in between each song? Was there something wrong with the tapes or were you just trying to keep the talkative Paul quiet and just give us the straight songs? Seems to be edited differently than any of your other shows on the site.

Led Zeppelin Zezar Stadium
First off, I would like to say. I was one of the guys in the 80's and 90's that traded tape worldwide hundreds of tapes.
Most of them the quality sucks. Ever since Wolfgangs vault came to be I cant wait to see the next goodies that come out.
Does anyone know what happened or if anything is going to happen with The tapes that were given to Jimmy Page from Wolfgangs vault of The Led Zeppelin Zezar Stadium Show?
I will bet you money that they have the Oakland 77 show somewhere.
Listen to the Joe Walsh and Barnstorn show very loud it is amazing

Re: Led Zeppelin Zezar Stadium
OK, I';m back and after seeing the Bachman-Cummings Band in Chattanooga a couple of weeks ago, it's time once again to beg for some old GUESS WHO shows from the 60s-70s. Please, anything in the vault from them??? And Oh also some Iron Butterfly, Spirit, Jay Ferguson, Chicago Transit Authority, Led Zep, Blues Magoos, Blues Project, Seatrain, Ball n' Jack, BTO, Rascals, Cactus, Vanilla Fudge, Glass Harp, Zephyr,Grand Funk Railroad, United States Of America, Yardbirds just to name a few. You guys have a great site and I'm loving it. Keep the shows coming. Thanks! NS.

It has been a while since I travelled this road. Some of your posts have brought back some memories, but most of them seem to be from folks much younger than me. There's a lot of discussion about Led Zeppellin and I thought about how we had to listen to them on the sly. If you can believe that! Kind of hard considering how hard, and loud their early music was on some of the first albums we listened to on reel to reel tape decks. Yeah, back in the day! ('u') The Psychedelic Art in Wolgang's Vault has really impressed me! I only wish I could have been in S.F. at the time all of these early, 'happenings' were unfolding. I would think for the folks who really lived it that this must be a real 'tug on the heart' when looking through the different works that were created for each of these concerts. It seems today that there are artists trying to find themselves and there is no where to look? Very sad for them. I give credit to Bill Graham for what he did. I never knew much about him until I kind of stumbled in here while cruisin' the WEB. He must have been a pretty, great, guy even if controversial at times. I mean, if any of us were doing as much as he did in his role as a promoter, I am sure there would be people finding something controversial to say about us. I have to admit I am getting so turned on again by looking through the inventory that I feel like I am stoned! Ha!
Oh, just to be alive and 18 at the time was an experience in itself. It wasn't one big pleasure ride all the time. There was plenty of hard times, and rowdiness between the 'Heads' and the 'establishment' we refered to as the'status quo' of the time.
Seems sad that so many of us have gone on to become part of the 'status quo' ('n')? It seemed that our pursuit of the good feelings we got from getting stoned on 'whatever' and all the great music we had to embrace, plus embracing one another led us to think we could come by that existence for the rest of our days here.
Sadly, for our children, it all seems to be playing out again with regard to War and violence. At times I think we should have kept our priorities straight and forged ahead for the cause of Peace, Love and the Environment. But, affluence seems to have hit hard on our society for a good many years. Except now, maybe the bounty is going to disappear. I have reason to be kind of melancholic right now, but it is tough to think of our dreams and our ideals so much of them expressed so boldly and beautifully in these works of art. Now, all dashed aside sometimes it seems. Is there a hope for a new 'awakening'?

Re: Concert Vault Feedback
Well this reply was a while in coming, I agree the Hollywood Bowl show is a major achievement in the music world. I was thrilled to hear it in such good quality. Do you know Whaleing Storis has been cut out of the show? I have a cassette recording of this from the 70's and it has an absolutely stunning version. I would like for the wolfgang people to find this track as this performance is really a true rock masterpiece.
